It's BS that half the IX's on here have some sort of tranny/sychro/grinding issue (imo).
Can they decline my warranty for having a TBE?

God I hope not. But I cant answer that. They can do pretty much whatever they want if they say you were abusing the car. There are so many people that have had their car from day 1 and have the same problems. People assume abuse but I think we just got the bad trannys.

Dont give them any ammo to shoot you down with. 100% stock... but then they willl still use the old "you abused it" excuse. GL either way.

Nice. Congrats, you beat the system. Take it easy on your shifts for a while. I would break it in like its a new car again.

I just started getting this grind. I have only smelled burnt clutch twice while I've had this car. I'm looking at replacing the transmission fluid with some BGII, but I can't find any locally. I want to see if that will help before I have to put everything back to stock in order to have the dealership look at it. I only get this grind if I'm shifting quickly and at some what a high rpm into fifth gear. The car is only two years old and has about 13000 miles on it. I've read the transmissions were weak in our cars, but I didn't figure they would be that fragile.

I had the same problem 3 weeks ago. Then Mitsu changed my 5th gear syncro 2 weeks ago. But now the problem is back. With a added 3rd gear grind.

sounds like maybe your clutch is not disengaging all the way. You could try and bring it back again and tell them you are having the same problem but also in thrid. They might say you dont know how to drive. Ask them if they adjusted the clutch last time.

Do you always push the clutch down completly when shifting?

Yes I always push the clutch down completely.

This is starting to become a hassle, its keeping me from modidng my car.

I have the 5th gear grinding on my '03. Mostly at redline shifts. I just confirmed with Mitsubishi that I have a 5 year 60k warranty. Does anyone have any dealer they can recommend to do this repair?

Thanks

If funds permitting I would just send it to shep and then continue to mod you car.

Good luck, on which ever way you go.
