FP3065 On A Budget??
FP3065 On A Budget??
Hey guys, I have about $5K to spend and am currently in the market for a turbo upgrade. I drive an '03 Evo 8 and I already have a 3" tbe w/test pipe & a HKS intake w/K&N filter installed, and 272+ CompCams, Fidanza cam gears, 255 fuel pump, and mbc sitting in the corner. I REALLY want the FP3065 kit from Buschur but will my $5K be enough for the kit, injectors, fmic, dv, piping, installation, and tuning, or should i just play it safe & go with the FP Green and have plenty left over for supporting mods & tuning? I'm really anxious for more power and want to make the best investment w/my cash. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!
youd be ok except for the installation part...
thats a lot of shop hours you are gonna be booked for.
dont short up and buy a 20g because that will just be money wasted since you know you wont be happy because it wont put out near the power of the 3065.
just save up a little longer.

Like the post above me said. Dont just settle turbo B cause you cant afford turbo A. You really want turbo A and that will be the onlything to make you happy. You will just be mad at yourself in a month or 2 when you get used to it. Give yourself a little time to save and you won't regret it.
Tha shocker,
I did extensive reading on both: FPgreen and FP3065, the reason why is because I was just hunting for a turbokit but ended with a FP3052(on my Eclipse GSX).
Anyway, I honestly think that once you got t`o the level in which you can afford a turbokit then you should spare a few extra hundred dollars. If money is not objection then go with the FP3065, it is undeniably a better turbo and it is design to handle big hp.
Despite the fact that the FPgreen is a non dual ball bearing turbo it still outspool vastly the FP3065. Again, the FPgreen is a better compromise for everyday driving and track use were the FP3065 shines more at the 1/4 mile track and sacrifices more on a daily driving due to the spool up.
I ended buying a FP3052 for my car which is the intermideate turbo between a FPgreen and a FP3065 but don't reference my turbo because it is not offered for the Evos(what a pitty) .
You can get away with the stocker IC but at least a set of minimum of 650cc injectors will be needed. On the FP3065 definately you should upgrade your IC and injectors as well. My support mods questiones were legnthly answered by Robert at Force Performance.
Go and watch a few videos on streetfire.net and youtube and compare the roll races on the Evos and Eclipses so that you can have a fair idea on how both perform.
Remember, the FPgreen is perhaps the best bang for the buck however the FP3065 is juts a better turbo(Tial waste gate, 4"inlet, dual ball bearing) you know what I mean...
My last tip is to highly encourage you to do extensive reading on the DSM forums. I found massives amounts of information from Eclipse owners that actually try them both so you can truly see a neutral review from the same person, same car and same track results, needless to say also dyno numbers and before and after trap speeds and ets.
Best of luck and please keep me posted.

Personally I would do a green or a 35r....nothing in between. But that is my opinion. For the extra lag that a 3065 will bring you, a couple hundred rpm of more lag will put you into a 35r. I have been in vehicles will these 3 turbo's as well.
Trending Topics
the 3065 will spool faster and make the same power as a gt35r up until 30 psi and by the nature of this guys thred i doubt he will be pushing more than 30 psi...
By the "nature of my thread"?? What's that supposed to mean? GEEZE!!
JK...Yes the 3065 & 35R are very similar up until 30+ psi, but I'd probably be happy w/500whp on race gas which i think the 3065 can hit right around that level. I believe i could do the install w/the help of a couple of my friends (we've installed a few turbo kits before). Will probably run a flash at first, but an AEM EMS would definately be in my future plans. Thanks for your insight guys, no matter what it takes, i'm goin for the 3065!!

Are you sure about that. The fp3065 can be bolted to a stock dsm manifold, but not the evo manifold, isnt that why buschur has a cast manifold made?
FP 3065 cannot be bolted to stock manifold.
You can get the 3065 straight from garrett with a normal T3 hotside, I believe that is the GT3040 not sure though...

haha i didnt mean to offend you if i did just meant that you dont seem like the type to push your motor past 30 psi because that usually involves a built motor and waht not and you seem to be on a budget.
keep me posted about the 3065 im kinda thinking of going this direcetion in the future only with a 2.3l stroker as well
