For it to break a rod, my guess would be a problem in your valvetrain and maybe you hit the piston with a valve...It could have been a partially cracked piston, and a piece of it finally broke off, seized the cylinder and thus breaking the rod...
how could this be? are you saying at 2800 rpm I broke the piston? it happens that I was watching my rpm that time...i always watch my gauges lie a hawk
all my mods are in my sig."stock head"

No no no
I was saying, that if you had compression problems in #4, it could have been a cracked piston. It wouldn't necessarily matter what rpm you were at if the crack grew to a point where a large piece broke away from the rest of the piston, seized the piston thus breaking the rod.

When doing the compression test on the low #4 cylinder, and adding the thimble of oil down into the cylinder...if the compression #s rise, then the problem is in your rings/cylinder walls, if it doesn't, the problem lies in your valves.

Al I couldn't have said it better myself...well I tried it just didn't come out quite the way I wanted . But you hit it right on the head...which is real honest individuals getting turned down for legit claims when there are other yahoo's out there running every bolt on and not even tuned then think they deserve a new motor after 150 drag passes. In the OP's case it doesn't sound like his actual fault but the previous owners. In any case I dont think his will be warrantied.
