Downpipe rattle
Downpipe rattle
I recently installed the Megan raing 3" downpipe and it seemed to be working out great for the first few days. Well now when I start the car or take off from a stop it rattles on something. Im not sure what its rubbing up against but it is anoying. I previously had the DC Sports downpipe and got rid of it cause it did the same thing. Is there anything I can do to fix this annoying problem?
look under the car and see what it's hitting... if it's the tie bars, get some washers.. if it's the tcase... well that's a little tougher
I noticed if I get the rpm's up a lil bit higher from a stop it doesn't rattle

What year is your Evo and what version of the DP is it? Megan makes 2 versions.. V1 for 03-04 has a flex piece in the middle of the DP. V2 for 05+ has no flex piece. If you have a 05 and have the V1 version, it will rub/rattle. I added washers so it wouldn't hit the lower bars, but it was hitting something else and I was getting phantom knock. I replaced it w/ the V2 version and the phantom knock went away...

Do you know what it's hitting? If it's the lower bars, then yes, the kartboys might help. I say might because I had the same problem. I bought the kartboy's, installed them and the DP clears much better. Before the Kartboys, I was hitting the lower bars even with spacers. However, talking to Megan, the insist it should fit (without the Kartboy's.) You might want to loosen up the bolts on the dp between the DP/o2 and the DP/Cat. Tighten up the DP/hangers 1st, then the o2, then the cat. That might solve your problem. My hangers were getting stretched, so I replaced them at the same time, but who knows which one solved the problem
