Needless to say I swapped in my OWN personal GSC 280 280's from my shopcar MR so he would have a nice set of performance cams. Otherwise he would have wasted a 2 hour trip for an install that could not have been completed.

Whats the size and thread the hole is supposed to be?

I could take the bolt and match it up to my tap and die set, but I am preoccupied at the moment.

With regards to that camshaft brand mentioned earlier, the thread and bolt size irrelavent as the hole was drilled and tapped to LARGE for the bolt.

If it was drilled and tapped to small, that would leave the option to machine it larger and retap it which is bull**** to have to do anyhow on a finished product.

Regardless it was not an option.

You cant go wrong with GSC 272 or 280s or HKS 272 or 280s. Id say BC, but they are on backorder last I heard.

Hey TTP, on the Helix cams, do you know if they were the V1 or V2 cams? There must have been a reason why Helix came out with V2's. If you don't know, about how long ago was the attempted install?

I ask because I just recently purchased a set of the V2 cams, and will be installing them in a week. I bought them because of a nod of confidence from a couple NorcalEvo users who have them and have had good results with them.

Helix came out with version two because they made them much lighter then the version 1 cams. The version 1 cams weighed about the same as the HKS. The version 2 cams weight half as much was version one. They are similar to the weight of the hollow stock cams.

They were the hollow version 2.

This was about 3-4 weeks ago.

Stock 05 turbo. Here's the dyno graph. I was able to bump the boost up just slightly after cams as well, but that only added maybe 5whp or so. I have a SMC alky kit installed and am running more boost than here. This graph is at 24psi peak.

Not sure how much this would make over 272's, I've never run those. I honestly would go for the 280s. I DD my car 40+ miles per day and see absolutely zero negatives to running these 'race only' cams, even on a stock turbo setup. My other mods for the above graph: Buschur TBE w/ cat, BR intake pipe & filter, UICP, and Deluxe FMIC kit, ARP head studs and custom flash from DB Performance. Stock injectors, stock turbo, stock valve springs.

Sorry, I should add that the lower lines above are with all of the listed mods minus the cams and head studs.
