Someone please help. Boost problem. .

Hey guys, well I have a major boost problem. . I installed a new manifold, o2 housing, wastegate, and boost controller (I did all this because I thought that my stock wastegate was bad because I couldnt get past 12 psi) Now I still cant get past 12psi even with the new wastegate disconnected! And I have the wastegate set for 18psi. . . I have changed the spark plugs, done a boost leak test and even retuned my car back to the stock tune and everything. . Any ideas? (and by the way, when I was doing my manifold and etc. I checked to see if I had any shaft play on the turbo and I didn't. . .) thanks in advance for the help.

I'm not sure how you "set" a WGA to a certain psi without testing the psi and then adjusting, but having base pressure like that is usually a connection problem. What do you expect it to hit with the WGA disconnected? When you installed the WGA, did you preload the turnbuckle enough that you had to apply force to get the arm onto the WG flapper pin? Have you turned up your MBC all the way and seen 0 change in boost?

Ya the mbc is hooked up right. . The turbo nipple capped off, the wastegate line goiing to the end of the hallman mbc that isnt right across from the adjusting knob. . and the boost source line to the bov line . And I had to apply alot of force to get the wastegate turnbuckle on the flapper.

Also, one thing, not sure if this would do anything with the boost. . But where the manifold meets the hotside, one of the bolts broke off so there is only three studs in there now. So I have a exhaust leak between the mani and the hotside. .

Can you explain this a little better? Exactly which nipple are you connecting the WG to on the MBC?

^-Boost source nipple (BOV or turbo)

Exactly the way you put it. Quick question warrtalon. . Im missing a stud where the mani meets the hotside and I have an audible exhaust leak could that be the reason I cant build more than 12psi because its letting all the pressure out?

Wastegate line
Looks backwards. Check warr's diagram again. The wastegate line should not be at the opposite end of the nob. I know I'm not the first one to tell you to try to switch your mbc lines around, but it looked like you were refusing to take that suggestion. Just trying to help. I was boosting 12 psi for 2 months after I got my Evo b/c of improper lines...so I feel your pain. Finally, I took it to a shop that fixed it in under 30 minutes. You might want to do the same.

what are you using to read boost? I had what i thought was a boost leak nightmare for weeks untill i tested the gauge. Be carefull you dont put yourself in a situation where you overboost and potentially damage your motor
