mods without a tune???
hey i have been searching for the last hour or so but im not coming up with good results.
I know that if i get a tbe and o2 housing the best thing for me to do is to get a tune with it to maximize potential. Is it possible to do those mods and not get a tune, or will the car run crappy?

I am running a full TBE (offroad, of course) without a tune, power has increased noticeably and i have not had any problems, I will get a tune, but for now it is great!!!! i have lost about 30-40 miles per tank though.

My gas mileage was not that bad after the install, i was getting about 300-310 miles per tank and now i get 260-285 a tank
I am 100% sure it doesnt run to its full potential, but it did run quite faster at the strip.
There is absolutely no reason not to get tuned!!!
I was untuned for quite a while, and satisfied as well...
Then I "caved in" to a buddy urging me to get tuned... The car becomes a whole other animal... The tune is huge - HUUUGE!
There is NO REASON not to be/get tuned when some vendors are offering their services for under 75.00 - Check my sig!

Getting mods with no tune or no plans for a tune is just a waste of money.
+1
How the hell are you getting that kind of mileage?!! That means you were beyond 25mpg. I just now got 25mpg and that was at 280 miles at around 11 gallons of fuel--AFTER an AMS tune. You must have some great gas quality and some grandchildren!
But to the original post -- get the tune when you get the cash to do it. Modding a car and not adjusting the ECU to accomodate for the changes is just not smart. Why mod at all if you're not going to mod correctly? Do it once--do it right.

Looks like the Alabama boys get much better gas mileage by far....
I doubt 380 is even possible unless you NEVER boost, drive only at the optimum speed, and have a tune to improve gas mileage as opposed to creating power.
But apparently I'm wrong because your car does it. What's your secret? Did you tune it for closed loop down the entire load range?

I haven't yet tweaked the car for best part throttle efficiency. When I do, it will deliver 400+ miles per tank. There is no conflict between tuning for best part throttle efficiency and max power. Setting closed/open loop thresholds properly is part of the key.
Aside from given big power potential, a large turbo keeps the engine from unnecessarily generating boost in part throttle operation.
The present parts selection, cam timing, etc., I'm using all improve VE in the rpm range where 75-80mph falls in 5th.
And lastly, driving like an adult contributes considerably.
