I recently changed my spark plugs out on my evo and all four of them had an orange color to them. what could this be? a couple days later i pulled out one of the new ones that i just installed and it already had an orange tint to it!! could this be a blown head gasket? i have 25k miles on it and its an 05!

 

You run racegas? If so, that's why.

 

take a pic of them,but i doubt it's the h.g.do a leak down test

 

Ash Deposits most likely....this guy can explain better than I can. Copy/Pasted from nightrider.com

Light brown deposits encrusted on the ground and/or center electrodes indicate ash deposits. This situation is caused by oil and/or fuel additives. When the deposits are found on only one side of the spark plug core nose, it is usually considered to be a problem with the cylinder head (valve stem seals or valve guides). When they are found on both sides of the spark plug, it is often considered to be a problem sealing at the piston rings. This condition can mask the spark and, in some cases, contribute to misfire. Check for worn valve guides and valve stem seals and/or piston rings. The spark plug is the correct heat range and was a victim of the engine's condition, not the cause of it. We does not recommend the use of fuel additives which leave deposits on the core nose of the spark plug.

 

i ran race gas recently but only put in a gallon of it and the rest 93 octane. i tried octane booster also last thursday but i already had to fill up again after that. il take pictures and get them on later today.

 

the additives can add to the ash (octane booster). could be part of your problem.

 

It's the racegas. The dealership looks for the "Orange tinge" to see if you ran any racegas in there, and have been racing the car. Orange means warranty void at some dealerships. I say it is that.

The orange is probably form the octane booster. I once used the octane booster in my boosted B18C and had the same orange spark plug issue. After that I stay away from the sh*t. What's the point of using it if it's gonna screw up your plugs so damn quick?

 

Jeff, check to see if you're mixing any oil in the coolant resevoir. If there is "rust" on the spark plug chances of a blown h.g. are definately there. High heat + coolant = rust. Like I said, get the leakdown/compression checked, that could finalize if it's a blown h.g.

 

The orange color is from the octane booster.
Race gas turns them white.

 

octane booster is what caused that... careful your cat can get clogged. my friend had his cat clog up.
