EVO Red Line

I was at my local dealer today and he mentioned that the EVO8 Actually has a 8K redline but the manufacturer screwed up and set it at 7K. I am not so sure about this (I have not attempted it either) and wanted to put it out there to see if someone could confirm or deny this statement

Why does the tac even go to 9k when it doesn't even go past 7400k?

I forgot to shift into second while playing with a mustang tonight. I was going around a turn, not paying attention to the tach whenever I hit the rev limiter. I could have sworn that I hit it at about 8500 RPM, but I could be mistaken.

I chalk this one up to inexperience since I've never owned a manual transmission vehicle before

I don't know if this applys to the evo but I believe when you over rev, it starts to wear on your valve train causing compression problems. Beginner no no. But i'm sure your fine, just don't do it too much.

Marketing. http://www.poweraxel.com/ralliart/ca...e/evo8/s4.html <--- That one goes to 10k a la the S2000. It's entirely possible to exceed the preset fuel cut but it's there to make sure people don't over rev and throw a rod. Just have to build the engine...even though it is plenty strong already.

while you guys are talking about the tach. What the hell is that thing under the 8 grand mark. Looks like it would light up or something. ITs a bunch of small dots. Any idea of what it does?

Should be for the variable center differential I think. Three modes: Tarmac, Gravel, and Snow if I remember right.
