HKS Blowoff Valve

Anyone have this installed and noticed once in a while in stop and go type traffic, your rpms dip alittle and come back up? Mine just started doing this. Anyone know what this could be caused from? It doesn't do all the time, just sometimes. I got the blowoff valve recirculating, so I heard this shouldn't happen. Please help!!

I have a Open Atmosphere BOV and mine does it every now and then. But if yours is recirculating than I don't think you should have a problem. Make sure the fittings are as tight as you can get them.

rpm dropping is not normal for hks. try adjusting the screw tighter

its perfectly normal.

i have the HKS SSBOV.. recirc'd, and mine does that all the time. it will even occasionally stall.. but its not that bad.

i believe doing the grounding kit or the SAFC will fix that. i think the MAF gets screwed up from the different air flow setup.

It could very well be the MAF and the ECU getting readings they aren't used to with the new blow off valve. Check how tight the screw is and see if it is possibly opening up early or sticking.

VTA bov's will cause accidents be VERY careful..... for example.... while ur making a nice high speed turn and u let off the throttle and the rpm dips and ur car stalls out... before u can even notice it u'll be in deep trouble...

Slighly off topic, but I noticed a similar thing in stop and go (totally stock Evo, hence the slightly off topic). I figured out quickly that I have to have the clutch ALL the way to the floor or my RPMs will drop to about 400 when I come to a stop with the clutch in and the car in 1st gear. It almost feels like I just have to apply a bit more pressure, no noticable clutch movement. I'm going to look into a slight clutch adjustment to remedy this...probably not your issue, but I figured I'd chime in since I was seeing similar behavior.

Off topic again, but not by much. Does anybody in here run the greddy type s VTA? I'm going to try to see how bad the idling/stalling problem will be. As for Recir, it's perfect; works like stock. All you have to do is remove the inner spring and you're set to go. Peace..

Let me enlighten you guys. Have you notice that air gets sucked in through the adjster screw? Take it off and try it! You can actually feel the sucking if you put your fingers there. So better make sure the screw is not on the loosest setting.
