MR transmissions suck

Broke 6th without ever hurting 4th. 1-5 is smooth like butta. 6 feels like a there is about 5 inches of crap to pull the lever through before it actually sinks into gear. HARDCORE binding going and coming out of 6th but the gear itself works dandy.

Am I the first?

Time for a 5speed...I knew this day would come but I was hoping it was tomorrow.

I think you might be the first to kill 6th. Stop racing supras!

Sucks John. Is it actually making crunching noises? You might have just warped a slider?

I take it you already checked the assembly on top of the transmission?

I think all it is is a slider issue. No crunching just really high effort to pull into gear and disengage 6th gear. I think its because a shift to 5th recently became more necessary and maybe I was a little too aggressive getting it into 5th and messed it up. Lucas told me it wasnt likely anything big, the spring that holds the keyways gets bound up and then you wait for the key ways to fall out and have no synchros in 5th and 6th? Or something like that. I have wednesday off so I am going to take a look at the shifter assembly and make sure something isnt just bound there. That would be about my luck though, I make alot of noise about blowing something up and its something dumb. The only reason I dont think its there is because 1-5 and reverse are okay and maybe even shift better. Probably only feels that way since 6th is so difficult.

My 4th Gear is Grinding at Hi RPM shifting or when I build more then 10psi. Ive been thinking about the 5 speed as well but how much does it cost for a swap? Do you just have to buy the 5 speed trans and it goes right in or there is more to it then that?

need:

5spd shifter cables
5spd shifter and base
5spd mounts
5spd shifter cover (the one with the ashtray)

couple other little things I can't remember right now

I had a quote awhile back of a little over $3,000 for a 5spd conversion. Parts only.

Or someone with a good 5 speed that really wants a 6 speed.

Don't forget the reverse/speed sensor harness, because those are not interchangeable. I drove for a week without a speedometer, odometer, or reverse lights until that part showed up.
