42R questions

Ive been looking to upgrade my 35R for about the past 8 mths or so.looking into a 37R or 42R.

to build a 42R what are the major things needed?

regardless if i go 42R/37R or stay with 35R ill be getting

1.AMS 2.0 or 2.3
2.race head
3.dual FR vsr intake mani
4.1000hp fuel system
5.jun cams instead of my hks.
6.ignition
7.tranny/tcase/better clutch and new axles and possibly driveshaft
8.ams race fmic

will the things above yield me a fine 42r set up??i already have the EMS for it.

basically pretty much when chris from florida went from 35R to 42R what did he change in his setup?i know he went to a dogbox tranny.

oh and whats the main difference in ams kit vs buschur??for $4700 from buschur that is a steal.

thanks

Are you running standard internals with your Gt35r?

I recommend going with a 2.4L 4G64 setup with a Mivec head + ecu and harness. With the extra displacement and Mivec, you will be able to spoolup the super-laggy 42R much faster.

Chris actually had nothing more then a stock tranny in his car...no dog box at all.

Compare the components in the AMS and Buschur kit and you will see where the difference in price comes from.

Other then that your mod list is pretty good.

oh i thought he had a dogbox tranny,at least i believe thats what someone mentioned in the FS thread.

ok so 42R
cop ignition
1000hp fuel system
large IC
built 2.0L(ross and oliver set up)
jun cams
vsr intake mani
shep drivetrain

and this will yield me a great setup?

well i seen plenty of 42Rs that arent track cars...chris evo, gold evo in conneticut and evokids 45R.

ive always loved the 42r and now have a chance to buy one.

im selling my current setup now.going 42R and little by little buy my supporting mods.then i go to iraq in dec and then come back with 900awhp.

im not gonna be living in hawaii my whole life..after iraq i got about a 1 1/2 yrs if that.so i will find a track where ever i go.

i only have about 3 mths of actual driving time left..trip to cali in mid august and then iraq in dec..so its my opportunity to have the car down.

yeah,b/c basically this is my only means of transportation right now.other then the g/fs car were about to buy and my beater little ford ranger.

i go to cali for about a month and a half.(leave aug 20).then 2 mths on island and then ship out.

so i can deal with the ranger being my daily driver for a few months.

after deployment it may be a street set up or a track set up...still not sure..i still like the fact of having all that power and still be able to drive on the street.not a track queen/dyno queen or weekend warrior..

so we shall see.....

It might be illegal to run a GT42R in Hawaii. If you start at one coast, by the time you hit WOT and full boost, your car might be beached on the opposite coast! Can't wait to see the setup!

LMAO!lol...well its gonna be a while...im not no rich boy and can have my car at AMS and just say build me a monster, its gonna be a long haul.but will take more pride in it when its done.

hopefully picking up GT42R soon...depending on how soon my setup now sells..then little by little build it up

here what i go so far on my mind

BRGT42R(would love to have the AMS,but $7700 is a big price, and the buschur shelf 42R kit runs 8s too)
AMS built 2.0L(ross pistons,oliver rods,possibly K1 crank)
AMS race head
Jun valves,springs,retainers,272 cams
ams dual fuel rail velocity stack runner with throttle body
(8) 1000cc injectors
AMS 1000hp fuel system
buschur COP ignition
AMS Race FMIC
4in exhaust
shep tranny,t/c
stg 5 axles
driveshaft
and have to look into brakes...and any other things i may need to help it out more.

oh and a parachute for ****s and giggles,lol...

Okay, I'll bite - are you going to run the 42r on pump gas, too?
