Boost Leak

I just got my car back from paint and now I have a bad boost leak I have a tester on the way but this is my only means of transport, now that my bike got ran over.

I have little time to search right now but I was wondering am I going to harm my car driving just for a little bit with this leak?

Just to let you know how bad it is, I'm luck to hit 15 lbs then is holds decent at 12.

any answers would be great and if you have any suggestions on common spot to look for the leak, that would be great too.
thanks guy

The most common spot to look would be your UICP going to your throttle body.

Also if you have the stock plastic DV, than that is a common issue also!

Um, why do you think you have a boost leak? A boost leak would not put your boost at 15psi randomly. I think you're unclear on what a boost leak really is. My guess would be that they messed something up while it was at the paint shop.

You don't "look" for boost leaks anyway. You find them by doing a boost leak test. You can't just snoop around and fine one unless it's so big that the IC pipes are separating, in which case you wouldn't build close to 15psi.

No, not common at all. The stock DV is weak but it doesn't make people's boost go down to 15psi.

yeah well went over thing to make sure I had every thing tight didnt find any thing. My leak tester is almost here but I went out for the heck of it. full throttle in 5th and it actually held about 17 maybe 18 lbs on my autometer boost gauge. ( I know its not the best.)
You think the lil freak low boost was just from sitting?

Also to add to the question I remember reading this some time back.. I want to clean my i/c, but i cant remember what chemical was recommended. I remember some people said use gas and rinse but others disagreed.

thanks again guys

Come on man, I posted this less than a week ago... Boost Leak Tester

You gotta search!

1) You can make you own tester <-- I made mine for literally under $5 following those directions.

2) Or you can buy one from the folks at BoostPro.net. The one from Boost Pro is nice because it has a pressure gauge right on the tester so you can do the boost leak test by yourself (normally you need a buddy to watch the boost gauge in your car so you know how much you've pressurized the intake system).
