Not understanding the power loss!
aight heres my problem now.... my boys gotta 06 sti. he knows what hes doing to his sti cuz its a beast but should i be listeneing to him about mine? anyways i took out that crap SSQ BOV and i replaced it with the stock EVO VIII BOV. now i feel a real power loss. i am hoping that the EVO 9 MR BOV will help get some power back. i just changed it a couple hours ago, and i dont feel any pull . Is this a BOV problem. I hope it is since its all that i messed wit.
Also, how much boost is a stock VIII pushing? i heard out 14 psi. how much can the EVO 9 MR BOV handle.
The link below is the BOV im bout to order in the next couple days, but can i get some input first???
if u scroll to the BOV section, its the second to last one. EVO MR DV Kit

There is no problem with that bov. The problem is that most people do not recirculate the air back into the intake pipe. Because the location of the bov dump back into the intake pipe is after the mass air flow sensor, the computer is programmed to compensate for the extra air when you blow off. If you do not have the air recirculating it makes the car go rich in between shifts and can slow you down.
You could just buy a recirculation kit for your ssqv and it would be cheaper. For straight line performance the ssqv is better, but for road course I would imagine the evo9 (evo mr) bov would flutter less. I cannot say for sure because I've never driven an evo with the ssqv.
There is no need to do a compression test at this time for anything other than peace of mind.
You are doing no damage to the car by running the stock bov.

As bluebyu36 said these cars run 19lbs stock. The stock plastic BOV doesn't hold well. Usually they have to be replaced because they leak. I replaced mine with one off a IX, which is the same as a MR or JDM MR, don't anyone tell you otherwise. You need to get one of them IMO. I run 22lbs all day with no leaks...
I had a HKS for 2 days, it was junk, you made a good call for getting rid of it.
No you won't hurt you car, it just won't make as much power.

Make sure you are not putting the BOV in backwards. Do a compression check. Then do a boost leak test. Chances are your 03 Evo's engine has been beat on pretty hard. Prepare for a rebuild.
