Recently I started getting allot of strange noises from under the car. When I floor it 1st-4th I get this loud wail that sounds like the exhaust pipe is hitting something and resonating. I checked it out and it looked ok but my slip fitting at my cat seemed a little loose, so I figured I would just tighten it up when I got a chance.

I also noticed what looked like a little oil leaking from the drain plug so I cleaned that up and tightened it back down. Now about a week/25 miles (I don't drive the evo as much now that I have a daily car) I'm getting a whole ton of gear noise on light accel and anywhere on decel. The higher the gear your in the louder it gets.

Went back under the car, some more fluid down there but drain plug is dry. So I figure I have a fluid leak and the trans is low on oil and making noise.

Would anyone disagree with this? What about the obscenely loud wailing when under boost? Could the tranny gears make a sound like that?

Finally what kind of fluid should I pick up? I'd prefer to not go to a Mitsu. dealer for fluid, as all the ones around me really suck. What other companies could I go to to get it. Also I couldn't find any good pages on how to check or refill your trans fluid. Anyone know how or know a good link?

also get you some royal purple 75w 90..3 bottles should do the trick and replace tranny fluid....make sure when you take out the drain plug you clean all shavings on the plug and in the hole..plz dont make same mistake i did by putting plug back and stripping the hole thread ...causing oil to leak, and tranny to be put to rest..
