Changing HID bulbs??

As much as I love the fact that our cars come with HID's i am slightly disapointed in the color of the light that comes out of them. I previously owned a S2000 and the light that those HID's produced was amayzing. is there anyway we can change the bulb's to produce a brighter light?? and if so where can i get them and what size/how much??

I know a place that has direct replacment bulbs for the EVO's HID headlights (which are D2S). Here is the link. If you do purchase these, please take some pictures for us!

I have not done this myself yet but I have heard that it is fairly difficult...

I hear you can kill yourself if you don't know what you're doing.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. You mean the high voltage in the transformer? You could just pull the negative battery terminal off...

If they are anything like I think they are...diconnecting the battery will not make it safe.....I can stand to be corrected but I think they have components called discharge capacitors similar to a flash on a camera (that can also kill if played with)....I think they can kill you if you are unsure what you are doing....I think they retain power even after battery disconnect.....I would be carefull!!!

Even if they do have compasitors they dont have enough amps to kill, so unless you have a major heart condition all its gonna do is bite you real hard (but i dont think thats the case) only thing im aware of is the whole "dont touch the bulb" issue wich makes it hard to work with,

I thought HID's where in a presurized headlamp? & you cant just replace the the blubs...

i installed HID's in my OZ, and changing the hid bulbs is just like changing regular halogen bulbs, just be sure and not to touch the glass of the bulb, or try to scratch the burner when installing them in the housing, it could cause discoloration and blurriness of light output, and i believe the warning said that the only way to get a shock is if you play around with the ballast while you're turning them on..

THe color of hid is actually depends on the projector lense,no matter if you change the bulb or upgrade them to 6000k ultinon. And the color varies on the angle while driving.I used to make Hid with previous car with Audi a4 projector lense and philips 4100k bulb.

very true... i tried to change a bulb out of my camera once and it was crazy.

i felt a twitch in my hand, and i didnt think much of it. happened again. i realized there was some sort of electric shock goin on.

before i could do anything, zap. huge spark and a big scare.

im ok.

Also try the Philips Xenon Ultinon drop in HID replacement bulb. It is trated at 6000K and has considerably more output plus a more slightly blue tone. Don't go higher than 6000K or you will lose output. PIAA HID replacement are also nice but more expensive. Changing them is just light changing a bulb.
