Trying to find the cause! Blown Engine!
Well on July 7th I decided to go on a nice one hour trip not alone of course
But well it was a rainy day at 6:30 AM when I left my home, I drove over some water spots nothing deep, but my car started to whine after the second water spot (yes on the street), the sound was like a crazy crack head chicken was inside my engine bay (yes I know Im crazy but that was the sound), I kept driving and the noise was gone, I had to stop somewhere before the one hour trip and more water spots on a road being fixed, I drove over them and the damned noise whine started again, I shut down the car for a while, and then when I turned it on sound was gone, fine, I finally headed to my one hour trip, on the way I had to stop for a bathroom break and more damned water!!! This one was kinda long, not deep, but the damned sound started again I was like WTF (belts slipping or something?) I was so pissed I kept driving and smoked a cig, when I finally arrived at my destination my car suddenly stayed accelerated (at like 4k rpms) by itself, in no gear and car completely at a stop, I shut down the car and let it have a break of me as it seemed he didnt like me that day. When I decided to hop back on the car, I drove it for like 4 minutes it made a WEIRD BRUUUUPPPPP sound and it just shut down.
After that story the damage:
When we checked the oil it was chocolate like, we drained the oil from the crank, it had WATER INSIDE A TON OF WATER, after taking the car apart we found the following things.....
Head without 3 valves and smashed beyond repair (yes the head)
Block with 1st cylinder not looking good, we think that block is not fixable unless bored to .40
First Piston was cracked and it had fused with the rod to a point that we cannot move the piston anyway from that rod.
Second and Third piston seem as they connected with the head too as they had markings on them so did the head.
First spark simply will not come out of the head its completely smashed and it became just part of the head.
Broken turbo as well!!! WTF, oh and first piston had a tiny hole.
So anyone has an idea of what the hell happened to my car?
The daily driving concept just really messed with me that day.

The only way a ton of water can be sucked in would usually be through the Air filter or leaks in the IC. It sounds like the air filter was immersed in water and sucked it all in. What kind of intake do you have?
Injen intake and no, the intake was not immersed in water, like I said the spots were not deep, that is why Im so frustrated, I have no idea what the hell happened to my car!!! But the belt sound like whine is still cracking my head trying to think what the hell went wrong for this to happen.
Randy, that really sucks!!!
Was the engine at any point in time consuming water?
Did it look like it had a blown head gasket, or that it wasn't sealing good?
Did you ever had any work done on the cylinder head, that could have lead to the failure?

^^^hahaha....thats funny.
Sorry to hear that bro....i am kind of confused too cause if it was not under deep water spots and and there was no leak in the IC, that should not have happened specially the way your engine took a sh*t.

Gasket was intact
No work done on the head it was 100% stock
you know what, I think i got same noise when its raining and when i step on it ones it catch the boost - it whines like a supercharger ...
by the way, is your car equiped with undertray? do you have filter cone? Im thinking to put the undertray back on and change the oil back to mobil1 10w30. running royal purple now and i dont like it, personally.

Sounds like a really bad case of hydro-lock. Is your intake filter mounted lower on the car? Are you driving with the under-tray off? How tall was the water that you went through? 12 inches deep or more? It doesn't sound like this engine will be able to be rebuilt. Start looking for a new engine.
I hydrolocked my 03 Eclipse and no way was the filter "submerged" although it did have an intake. the logic that the filter needs to be submerged is flawed and I had proof of 2 bent rods and piston damage with 8 inches of water in a parking log exit. If you have full covereage insurance this type of damage is likely to be covered as they generally dont care who's at fault and you can insist that they put a new mitsubishi shortblock in your car if it had existing warranty since a salvage block will not have any warranty at all.
