My Tilton Clutch blew.
My Tilton Clutch blew.
Okay, so my Tilton Clutch blew. Nothing out of the ordinary about that. However, what makes this different is that the clutch saw no track time, was not popped in any way, and saw little stop and go traffic (I work second shift so I don't hit rush hour and other times my wife drives her car because it busses the kids). Basically the clutch has never been abused. It's been on the car for less than four and has less than 5000 miles on it. So the question I have is do you think the clutch would still be covered by warranty? If it is covered by warranty, do I have to go through Tilton or do I have to go to the original seller, whom I think was Titan Motorsports? This sucks because I was supposed to have my bodykit installed next week, I was going to finish installing my stereo AND I still haven't done my 60,000 mile checkup on my car. On top of that, I don't have a whole lot of money to be spending on another clutch, which I'm hoping will not be the case.
Your best bet is to contact either Titan or Tilton first rather than start what is perceived as a negative thread and then ask for them to help you... It leaves a bad taste when there is no opportunity to address a problem before subjecting it to everyone's critical opinions. Been there, done that. I don't know the details of what happened with your clutch, which model you have, or if you even know the details yet (is the car apart?) but both companies are good to deal with and will treat you fairly. Of course that doesn't mean you are entitled to a free clutch. There has to be a reason for a Tilton clutch to fail that quickly and usually it is not a quality problem.

Dont get me wrong, I know things wear, but if infact you are telling the truth about your driving habits, it sound like you drive just like him.
FYI, he went back to Exedy, and said he will never use anything else but Exedy again
I'm not knocking Tilton or Titan Motorsport. The purpose of this thread was to see if either would cover it. If indeed it is a blown clutch, I probably will not do an Exedy as that is too expensive an option right now. I'll probably end up doing an ACT/lightened Flywheel type combination.

If you got it from us definately give us a call. We can give you a return # so we can send it to tilton for inspection. I'm sure we can work something out and as somebody said Tiltons are very cheap to rebuild if it comes down to it. First thing is to send it back though.
