Are Evo 4,5,6 and Evo7,8 cams the same??
As the topic says, I was wondering if cams from a CP9A (Evolution IV, V, VI) fit a CT9A (Evolution VII, VIII)?
The reason I ask is because I was looking through the HKS Europe website and the cams for a CT9A have a different part number than the ones for a CP9A.

Why would you want to do this? The cams would probably "fit" in any 4G63T but they might not improve performance. If the car supposedly "evolves" with every version, then performance cams are designed to improve that particular car. Why take a step backwards putting cams designed for a IV into an VIII? The different part numbers are probably a good sign that it isn't wise to mix and match and expect positive results.

I apologize if my question was misleading. I want to know if for example HKS 264 cams installed in an Evo VI can be switched over to an Evo VIII. Or HKS 272 cams on an Evo VIII can switched over to an Evo VI.

If its a different part number, I would not try it......HKS is very good about not randomly assigning a new part number just becuase the part is applicable to a different chassis code....

NO THEY DON'T FIT !!
CE/CN/CP9A has different bolt size on the cam angle sensor compared to the CT9A .. Oh yes .. you're throwing away 2 cams that weigh less than 1 cam from HKS
Basically .. that means the intake cams can be used, but the exhaust cams cannot, unless you don't mind shaving off the sensor bolt to make it fit ..

i bought some evo 5/6/7 cams the other day so that i could update my e4 head. I went to fit them today and found that the exhaust cam has a different fitting in the far end for the camshaft sensor pickup. Are you aware of this difference? the bolt is alot thicker ie m12fine instead of m8fine that hold it on and the fitting hole is obviously bigger that the bolt goes through.
i also see that the later hydraulic tappets are slightly longer and the cam rollers are slightly slimmer from the E4
