Thats no good.... This is after a hone? Im guessing so since you said the grit is after hone... Honing with the block and crank still in the car? You are gonna have grit everywhere, not to mention that cylinder wall looks pretty bad... Gonna have to overbore, get new pistons and try again..

If that didn't come out after honing, you need to overbore and pick up a new set of pistons...

If it were my lawnmower, it'd be back together in a flash. An evo....take it to a machine shop and get them perfect.

No it wasn't dirt. There were stock pistons in there on stock block. I honed out the other cylinders but before I did this one I took pictures. It is grit from the honing out the other cylinders.

The block was out of the car and I put everything back together with the help of friends. I'll post the link to the pics.

Ya all depends on how the pistons look. To me it looks like the skirts of the pistons are probably pretty worn. The weird thing is if this is a stock block with stock pistons and nothing has every been touched you normally dont see this happen. I have seen this happen with aftermarket pistons from expanding too much. Funny thing was all the machine work was done as per the specs given. After talking with the company all they said was to clean the pistons up with with some scotch brite and give the block another thousands clearance. WOW THANKS ALLOT!

Long story short it did solve the problem but for a stock piston and stock block there has to be more to the story i would think IMO.

your walls definitely looked scored, but if you over heated that much you would have a bluish tint to it as well.....did any of your rings break? did you adjust the spacing on them before you put them back in?

if you got the walls honed, how come you dont have the criss cross type marks?
