20g-9LT (green) vs IX turbo
nice gains on pump gas, you gained whp and wtq throughout the powerband.
Since when can you get a GT40R kit for $1700? I don't think you know what you're talking about, Gump, just like in all your other threads. why are you saying it's "over hype"? It's hyped to be exactly what it is...a great BOLT-ON TURBO that makes more power than any other BOLT-ON TURBO. BOLT-ON means it goes right where the stock turbo goes without changing parts. A 40R kit will cost you 3k at least plus all the other supporting mods you need. On top of that, a 40R is ridiculously laggy compared to what most 20G-LT owners are looking for...
i just added a green to my regimen, will get dyno'd soon, unfortunately i dont have a dyno from my stock evo 8 turbo, but it sure as hell feels significantly faster than my previous setup.
Between the 8 turbo on my 05 and the Green I picked up 65 whp at 25 psi set boost. Now, this was not meant to be a back to back turbo comparison, so please don't start asking questions about it.
But to back up the dyno numbers, the car also picked up 6 mph in trap speed, which is right in line with the WHP gains at my weight. On race gas it picked up something around 90 whp. Bottom line is the Green moves 7 lbs/min more than the 8 or 9 turbo can, which equates to a solid 70 whp difference in potential. James (04evoRS or something like that) went from trapping ~117 typically on a 10.5 8 turbo to 125 on the Green with no other changes. I think the turbo has been well proven.
Whether or not it's worth the price depends on whether or not you feel like spending another 1300+ for the "kit" required to run a larger turbo, and what classes you plan to run in if you actually race.

Warrtalon, I know you like Buschur and endorse his products. I like Buschur, his products, and the things that he did to the Evo/DSM communitites too, but I'm not blindly because of that.
Back to the topic, so you saying the extra 10-20 whp power is worth it for the "green" turbo over the conventional 20g (which is about half the price of the "green" turbo)? That's my point!!
The Green is a great value if you intend to use it properly. If you have a 2003-2005 EVO and plan on running methanol/alcohol, its great. If you have an IX and are running methanol, I think it is probably still worth it, but not as much as it is for the pre-2006 guys. I have the turbo and love it. The spool is very similar to stock, it bolts to everything stock and makes great power. All for much less than any turbo kit. Great value
The question now is: is the Green turbo worth the $$$ on a pump gas IX running about 24psi daily?
So, $1700 for about 30whp?
