Question 20g-9LT (green) vs IX turbo

With a custom tune on pump gas with dynojet.
What WHP should I expect with the green turbo over the IX turbo?
mods are in the sig.

Thanks for the help.

You should gain a good 50whp using the LT over the IX.

Thats the minimum estimate my butt dyno tells me about the LT from my IX.

You should be right under or at 400whp/tq.

Yeah I just noticed Im running a good amount more...

I went from 28 with the stocker to 30-32 with the LT.

It will be a little less for you probably, but I would not say much.

Glad to see this thread. I'm real skeptical of the 50whp gain claim, unless that includes a significant bump in boost.

There are members that swear they got 25whp out of upgrading from an VIII turbo to a IX. I only gained 15whp and that included a ported exhaust manifold and SS O2 housing.

I've got a spare IX turbo, and I have been planning to do an FPGreen. I just don't want to spend $1K and only gain 10whp. I already did that!

I'm just not sure whether to do a FPGreen or save up for a 50 trim kit.

Uh, hold on a minute. 50whp from a IX to an LT? Come on, now, you're basing that off your "minimum butt dyno estimate"??? That's utterly ridiculous - how in the world can you estimate 50whp with your butt dyno? Come on. Plus, you are saying you went from 28 to 32 psi?? Good Lord, APEX1 said PUMP GAS. he won't be running 32 psi nor 28 psi. It's highly unlikely he'll gain 50whp or raise the boost 4psi on pump gas. It's also very unlikely he'll make 400whp/400wtq when he's making 347whp/318wtq right now.

That was quite a stretch...

i got a 38whp increase on the same dyno, on the same PSI, on 91 oct from an VIII 10.5 16g to the FP Green...still rocking the stock o2 housing, stock airbox, unported intake & exhaust manifold, yada yada yada...

Save up your money and get a real turbo. The "green" is waaay over hype and not worth it IMHO. There are people here on the forum run 10's in the quarter mile with the stock turbo. I am very sure with the supporting mods and race gas, the stock IX turbo can get to 400 whp.

Forrest Gump, where are you coming from with this? There's only 2 cars who have hit 10s on the stock turbo, and neither car is close to normal. Plus, the Green _IS_ a stock-based turbo anyway, and it definitely works very well. It's the best bolt-on there is...

Yes, the stock IX turbo can make 400whp, and the Green has made close to 500whp on a few cars.

I recently upgraded to a IX turbo on my 04 RS. The original intention was to get the green but 1k for another 20hp at 21psi did not seem worth it IMHO. I would save for 3076 and get some real power on pump gas.

I'm not trying to dis the "green" turbo. I'm just saying it's way over hype and not worth the $1700 sticker price!! For $1700 you can get the GT40R!!

All I have to say is after doing Dominic's (_EVOlved_) car at 400/400awtq with my dial-IN on his stock turbo bolt-on car at ~27psi, his tune at 32psi netted a whole WORLD of difference with the LT at ~32psi. The car is extremely torquey and I wouldn't doubt if it did gain ~30-50wtq. over his prior dial-IN.

ps. to clarify on behalf of Dom, this was done on pump gas w/ meth, low 11 AFR and ~32psi with room to go if he wanted me to be aggressive with the timing.

Awesome turbo, definately money well spent.

how much boost did he run prior to your tweaking with his dynoflash tune?

:edit:

not going into the details due to the fact i'm not a vendor, but his car liked my dial-IN much much better as was seen by black & white facts witnessed by the owner of the car and the dyno guy at P&L Performance after numerous pulls.

ps. the car had a fresh map, it wasn't adjusted off anybody's.
