hey guys. ive done a sudden shift from first to second 2 times so far in my evo because i havnt broken it in yet i dont know if this is something i should worry about. But when i change from first to second hard at about 4500 rpm it makes a bang sound. Like if i were to have a bowling ball in my trunk and it rolled into the wall of the trunk. I dont feel a thump, i just hear one.

what do you guys think.

 

Do a search I believe this was addresed a while back by a few people even myself had this same question. It is something with the center diff mount under hard shifting if I recall correctly. I also remember someone is suppossed to come out with a firmer mount to eliminate the sound.

 

as long as its not bad for the car.

 

I hear it when i shift quickly above 6000 rpms. It's like the car wants to break the tires loose but it can't cause of AWD. Also thought it could be spare and jack but i doubt that. I am used to that sound and expect when trying to hall ***.
