Question about NLTS shifting.

Ok i have a question and wanted some feedback from you guys. As far as runing NLTS, when you punch 1st gear, then you go to disengage the clutch, Since your foot is on the throttle the entire time and since first gear is really aggressive pull wise. Do you guys get a hard disengagment feeling since your not letting off the throttle.

Like a partial thump (not the rear diff thump), Almost like a rough drivetrain thump.

My question to you guys is, now that your holding the throttle the entire time, do you try to hit the clutch as fast as possible, or do you barley tap the clutch for a partial moment to get the NLTS to kick in and then follow throw with fully disengaging it? It kind of does it in 2nd gear too, the higher gears feel smooth since the accerlation isnt as aggressive.

I just wanted to know because the disengagment feels pretty rough on the drivetrain. Throw in your 2 cents guys.

I have tried it in the first / second region, and I keep my foot off the clutch about 1" suspended in the air. When it's time to shift, I, Like someone once said, Ninja shift that **** and don't really get a thumping sound. I hit the clutch off the floor like I am trying to kick someone into next week.

It could be your clutch not fully disengaging if you have a single plate clutch. That will tear up your synchros. Regardless if you are NLTS'ing and your feel a rough thump you are doing damage, whether or not it will surface immediately or later down the road is situational.

NLTS + Single plate clutch = drivetrain problems. Even with a twin plate clutch its still abusive, but it should disengage fully.

I feel like there is a LOT less drivetrain shock after I did the NLTS mod. I set mine to 1500rpm and have no issues with 1st/2nd gear thump... on a stock clutch too.

Well, i know my clutch fully disengages when i press it down to the floor, today i went out again, and I think the faster i disengage the clutch the less the thump is evident. I know it is still there, and yes I am on a stock clutch.

Hey boltz one thing i dont get is how will that mess up your synchros?

I did this mod on my buddies evo 9, similar disengagment thud, only slightly less. Either i am disengaging the clutch way to slow or im just tripping out over something that is barley evident and thats why none of you guys notice it when you disengage your clutch while redline and WOT shifting. Its not really a thud, its more of a clutch disengaging from the tranny sound ( LOL whatever that is suppose to sound like ), but because the engine has momentum, its that brief instance where your clutch is disengaging from your motor, ( I can feel it, i just wanted to know if you guys could to?

and boltz even if your clutch wasnt disengaging all the way, the NLTS mod would actually help preserve your synchros if you think about it. or atleast it wouldnt harm it any more then just regular WOT/redline shifting without the NLTS mod, because the upper clutch switch has to be satisfied before your motor starts to accelerate again (aka fuel cut/NLTS is turned off) and since your upper clutch switch is satisifed prior to deactivating the NLTS you know your clutch is fully re-engaged again ( assuming it re-engages fully)

yes, ninja shift that **** like it owes you money!

I've never done a flat 1-2 shift until the NLTS mod came out. If you do it quickly and time your hands with your feet it feels very smooth. I'm still not used to it though and find myself lifting most of the times just out of habit even when I intend to flat shift.

Aniel i am not talking about the rear diff thump. The thump is when you engage the clutch. I am talking about a little drivetrain shock when you disengage it.
