Im not sure if this is the right forum for this thread but here goes. I recently hit a raccoon on the express way and my intercooler got beat up pretty bad. I bought a new intercooler and decided that while the car was down it world be a good time to install the Espiler GT springs on my MR. The install was the uneventful. Now when i down shift or just let off the gas the flywheel chatters alot .... Anyone have any idea as to what might have happened? And can i fix it?

I don't know if I can be much of a help, but some noise from aftermarket clutches, or more lightweight flywheels, is quite common. did you notice any before the roadkill? how long/many miles had you had on the upgraded clutch/flywheel before you started hearing noises? i don't remember where the clutch line is and if it is possible to damage it, you or someone else should verify this. it may be an idiotic suggestion, but is it possible that the clutch line was damaged from the roadkill? probably not but i try to consider all possible things.

sounds like it could be a coincidence that you noticed it more after the incident. AFAIK they may become louder as they wear/break in. If it still shifts and hold torque fine, I'd say don't stress about it too much, but oay attention for anything unusual. sounds normal to me though.

when you first start the car and its warming up you can sometimes hear it... not all the time and it stop as soon as you push in the clutch...when driving all you have to do is let off the gas and you can hear the chattering...push the clutch in and it does away... but it never really did that b4 the springs where installed...i did the install myself and im wondering if i damaged something i tugged on the strut to release it from its lower perch.
did you use a throwout bearing installation tool? i assume you used a new TO bearing? it's very important to get the TO bearing positioned and installed correctly. you can chew those things up quickly. also your situation sounds backwards. mine used to be audible mostly when i had the clutch DISengaged/pedin in.
This sounds like a typical Exedy clutch but is more common in the multiple disk setups. The chatter you are hearing is not actually the flywheel but the clutch disk rattling back and forth between the flywheel and pressure plate. When you give it gas there is a centrifigal load placed on the disk which keep is silent.
I have the same issue with idle or coasting in gear. Push the clutch pedal in and it quites down or goes away.
I doubt you have any damage to your clutch slave cylinder or line as they are both tucked up on top of the transmission and you'd definitely notice in the pedal feel and weird engagement/disengagement issues. If you aren't having any other issues besides the noise (i.e. hard to get into gear, popping out of gear, grinding) then I would be willing to bet it's the clutch disk causing the chatter.

I drove the car on this clutch/flywheel for 6 months. It has always chattered...its was only recently after the lowering spring install that this got so pronounced. Could i have damaged the axle assembly when i tugged on the front struts to get them off the bottom purch?
