I know it might be a lot of work, but put your stock springs on back and see if the chattering goes away. Then you'll know it was something with the lower spring install. Good luck.

I don't see how. The axles are not directly connected to the clutch (obvious). My Exedy was actually pretty quite when I first installed it as was a buddy of mine's. But after some mileage they tend to get a little louder. Perhaps you were a little more in tune with the noise after doing an install than previously.

I myself can hear a seat spring squeak after doing any mod as I'm always listening for new noises after installs!

Your spring install has NOTHING to do with clutch chatter, trust me. Is the clutch engaging very low or high on the clutch pedal stroke? If its too low or too high, you might need to adjust the clutch pedal height, which might help with the chatter. Otherwise, this is just a case of pure coincidence. I don't care how big that raccoon was, theres no way it or a spring install could cause clutch chatter, its physically impossible.

maybe ur right....i do get kinda paranoid after an install... i know the raccoon incident has nothing to do with this... that was just a little back story... But when i installed the springs the front hubs do lean outwards and pull on the axle boots a bit....i didnt realize this until i pushed them back in to reinstall the struts and heard them flexing back into the original shape.... i thought maybe i pulled on the axles too hard and dislodged something from the t-case.... assuming thats where the axles connect to the car. Im not really familiar with AWD drive trains....

Pulling the axles has nothing to do with the clutch. Pulling on the axles isn't a great idea because it can rip the CV boots, but other than that it will not cause any harm. The clutch is attached to the flywheel which is attached to the crankshaft, remember? The only way you could be receiving more clutch chatter now is coincidence (highly likely) or maybe you slammed into the raccoon or maybe a curb, so hard that it dislodged the throw out bearing somehow (this is very unlikely). If you are really paranoid, double check the torque on the bolts that hold the transmission to the block, if they become loose, bad things will happen, trust me.

I have the same issue with my Exedy twin. One day out of the blue the chatter got louder, I didn't even have to hit anything. Still trying to figure out if it is normal or if there is something wrong. The noise is just so loud it can't be good. But mine is also sporadic, sometimes its there, other times its not, very strange and highly annoying.

This has happened to both of my friends hondas and it was the Flywheel Bolts. We took off the tranny, and the Flywheel bolts were loose, and the ones that were "tight" were hand loose. Check that out and see if it the cause.

+1 Did you use loctite on the flywheel bolts and torque them down to spec? If you didn't, perhaps the flywheel is loose. To check if the flywheel is loose, simple unplug the inspect hole plug and or plate and take a pry bar to move the flywheel, if it wiggles around, you will be taking off the transmission again very soon.
