The OP sent me the map.
I am neither defending or attacking the tune. I am merely trying to let everyone know the mods weren't exactly the same.

As for the above bolded part...I don't know. I do know that I have seen a NorCal stroker 30R make less peak hp than I did on pump. Obviously, on race gas, it's a different story...and I realize both this car and Charlie's are using the same turbo, so the analogy isn't perfect.

Interesting about the map...

my cam gears are set to ZERO. To me something doesnt add up. That car made very little power with ras gas and 4 more psi.

anyone who has seen the tune please do not post whats wrong with it please please send you comments, facts, and opinions to my PM

read again, i said the the clutch start to slipping at 25 psi and also i dyno with my hood close too. either way i don't really care. Don't be **** off cause you spent a grip and other people with lesser mods made more WHP and TQ than you. Even more pathetic i made more WHP than you when i was on stock evo 9 turbo

I said all I had to say in private e-mail to you. IMO, you have two options:

1. Tune the car yourself. After my very bad expereince with a pro-tuner, I have vowed to learn how to tune my own car. At first, the process is daunting and the learning curve is steep, but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy to do. It is not black magic or rocket science. I am a firm believer in the fact that tuning never ends. The tune that you have dialed in today will behave differently in a week/month time. Too many variables can/will affect your tune. So learn to do it yourself. No one care about your car more than you do

2. If you do not have the time and passion to do number 1, then go to a different tuner and see if he can extract more power from your car. Your options in SoCal are limited. Charlie (vboy) has extraced good power from a green on 91 octane similar mods and low boost. Send him a PM and see if he will tune your car. You can also contact Bryan (razorlab) and make the drive to the bay area and have him tune your car.

Even if you don't tune the car yourself, it is a very good idea to begin to teach yourself ECUflash. It will only help you understand things better.

My Tactrix cable should be here tomorrow, and I will begin to log my car...and learn from there.

You cant even compare these 2 cars. They dont have the same mods. Apples and oranges. Also the state of the tune has a lot to do with it. I know Charlie can tune an Evo, but John's Evo wasn't tuned for"kill". Could you get more HP out of sure you can. I bet the boost is really around 19psi. A lot of people say the Defi's read about 2psi low in that range so he had it at 21psi by the gauge. I am not bashing Charlie in any way and I am not a Tuning Tech fan boy that will defend them to the end. You just can't compare these 2 cars.

i have DEFI link system and zeitronix. zeitronix read 21.28psi. Defi show almost 1.5 bar.

by the way CPOEVO, i don't tune for numbers. A matter fact i tune really safe cause i do a lot of road racing course.

I am not going to argue whether you can compare these two cars or not. IMO, the mods are really close and balance each other out. You have one car that has a stroker as a big power adder and the other one has an intake/TB as a big power adder. Don't these two balance each other out?

I just want to argue about the boost issue. I know for a fact that Tuning Tech does NOT log boost on their dyno. Alfred sets the boost by EYEBALLING the gauge. This is NOT an accurate method to set boost. If a tuner does not log boost then there is no way to tell what the actual boost is. I logged a TT tuned Evo 8 that had the boost set by the eyeball method. It was supposedly set to 20-21 psi @ peak. Guess what the MAP sensor logged? 22.95 psi. And that is on 91 pisstane gas.

If what you are saying is correct and the boost is actually @ 19 psi because a Defi gauge is known to be off by about 1-2 psi, then that is the fault of the tuner. Why doesn't the tuner use a proper method to set boost? Dynojets have the ability to log boost. All that is needed is purchase the accessory to allow the dynojet to log boost.

I made a excel file from your dyno graph to analyze shift points to maximize torque. I needed an actual graph for data and when I searched I found yours first so I guess you will benefit from the work! Save the file and change the .txt extension to .xls to open it.

Tell me if it helps any

Anyone else can use it but they have to input their own TQ's to the spread sheet and use the step at the top at the file to analyze shift points.
Attached Files
File Type: txt
5 Speed Shifting TQ.txt (49.5 KB, 6 views)
File Type: txt
6 Speed Shifting TQ.txt (54.5 KB, 2 views)

I would still assume about 400WHP. Go Run the car, tell us your traps and times and got from there.

silly question, but didnt see it listed in your mod list, what bov are you running?

typical evom, willing to bludgeon someone...........john, give me a call & lets look @ your car, free of charge. i just want to see your or ayone else's car run strong...lets face it, that is why we bought these cars. they haul

myself & pretty much everyone else who has viewed this thread, believes & knows you should be making more whp, regardless of the ambient conditions.

yeah, vboy lay'd down some serious power, but let's face he, rubs on his tune more than most single guy's out here rub on their skin flute. If he denies it, that is bs, charlie is hooked on tuning like a ***** on crack, he just needs to do it!!

charlie, you are neither a ***** or a korean woman on crack!! but lets face, you love tuning & it's all that you can think about for the most part....trust me, i know first hand........some times the right & sometimes the left
