Makinng Driveline stronger

I am currently putting around 400+ whp down, and was thinking about a set of slicks on the car. but before I do that I want to make sure the driveline can handle the power and launch.. I currently have a 05 Evo 8 MR with 6 speed.. what do i need to do the trans, dif's and axles to make it handle a launch on slicks.

thx

Upgrade them. I wouldnt run slicks on the car. You arent lacking traction I'm sure.

What is your setup? Try lowering the tire pressure or trying tires with a softer sidewall.

FP GT3575, 280 cams, Apexi Standalone, Apexi AVCR fuel stuff. 1000cc injectors.

Good year F1's ?(a little worn, looking to get some Falken 615's)

but the setup is irelivent. 420+ WHP, I want to put slicks on it, and I want to make the driveline bulletproof.

anyone with any ideas of what needs to be done. and the cost thats going to be involved.

You are looking at well over 5k for what you want to do. Shep Tranny and T-Case upgrade is ~3k. Stage 2 rear axles are ~700. Then you have to buy slicks and rims. IMHO, its not worth it. Your gain wont be worth your loss.

with 420+ wheel hp there is no need to unpgrade the driveline or slicks. slicks and drive line upgrades need to be on aplications running faster then 10 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Off topic but how much hp can the 6 speed hold? Everyone says the 6 speed sucks. However, all the threads i have read showed the people who broke their 6 speeds did so by road racing. Supposedly the 6 speed synchros are small and cant stand high periods of heat due to lack of proper oiling. The guys who broke their 6 speeds like warratalon and others said that the 6 speed should be fine for drag racing and highway pulls. Im just confused have their been peopel who have broken their 6 speeds from to much power?

+1. 400whp ain't s h i t. You don't need slicks. You might want to purchase some spare transfer cases, but thats about it. Maybe have shep tighten up the transfer case while its still good, and also cryo the ring and pinion.
