I've narrowed down my search to 2 coolers but i have a query and I trust that my fellow M brothers will assist me. Below are pictures of 2 separate I.C.'s, both form e-bay

My query is the inlet/outlet pipe on the 1st pic is totally different from that of the 2nd pic. Actually, the 2nd pic has the same contours for the inlet/outlet as the OEM coolers.
I asked the vendor about the cooler in pic#1 and he said that its a str8 bolt on for the Evo VIII which I know will also fit the IX as they are similar, however I'm a bit skeptical about the the contours for Pic #1.
Can anyone verify if this will bolt onto my IX MR ???
THNX!!!!

So do you have your heart set on the Ebay intercooler and are wanting us to tell you that that's a good choice? It will fill up a hole on the front of your car and won't cost much, but you've seen the reviews. If cheap (low quality, LOW price) is what you want then the Ebay is the best bet. If value is what you want, the good intercoolers have been covered

The 3" wide unit is trash and the AMS knockoff fits poorly at the inlet. It can damage your front clip and paint, and without heavy attention given to upgrading couplers and clamps, it will blow off the connection 3 times a week.

to answer your question go with the second IC pictured, the one with angled outlets on the endtanks. Thats what I have. Keep in mind that fitiment isn't 100% like stock and it will require some "massaging" to get the stock LICP to fit perfect but it can be done.

Just make sure you do a boost leak test afterwards.

I thank you very much for your chioce and also advice.

I really dont understand some memebers comments when a question is asked on the forum about e-Bay products. Once a member sees the word "e-Bay" a high alert similar to the terrorist system is automatically tagged. A mean common guys, dont be a "sterotypical pesstimistic" b....th. They are good stuff which anyone can purchase from that meduim.

JDMMR, actually, how about looking around EVOm and doing some searching and you will find that the Ebay intercooler has been tested and proven to not control heat very well, which if I need to remind you is the job of an intercooler.

So rather than point fingers ab9out being ""sterotypical pesstimistic" b...th" as you said, why not do some research and find that you are looking to buy junk.

Dave, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the test you performed done with your top of the line high dollar IC with a HUGE turbo (42r I think) running MAX boost? I thought thats what I remember reading you tested but I don't sit on here all day everyday so I might have you confused with someone else.

In the test I'm talking about the ebay IC performed really bad, which I would expect as its not really sized for disipating the amount of heat a huge turbo like that puts out. I think its much more suited for a smaller sized turbo. I say this because I've used the ebay IC on my stock turbo as well as my 35r and had great results. I remember being at the track last August in the hot humid air. After a pass I checked the hot side of the IC which was pretty warm but the cold side was much cooler then ambient, it was actually cool to the touch. I was amazed.

I don't know if any tests were done against smaller turbos but I'd bet it would perform well. I didn't see any loss in my times or MPH what so ever.

Definately not a 42R.

Here is the thread for those interested in reading about the great Ebay FMIC's. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=260479

Keep in mind where your money is going when you make this purchase. It definitely isn't going to the working american who has bills, kids, house payments, car payments, etc... just like YOU do.

Why buy a part from a SHOP thats proven to work effectively as well as run 8's, 9's, 10's, etc time and time again.

In the end.... you get what you pay for.

thanks for the link, for some reason I thought it was a much bigger turbo the a 35r. At least I was on point with the boost. My 35r never saw about 25psi on my bone stock motor w/pumpgas, maybe thats why I didn't run into IAT issues.

The part about where the money is going has nothing to do with this thread, thats an entirely different topic probably better suited for the political section.

25psi on a 35R is like living in Miami and putting snow tires on your car. While it serves a purpose its not quite what it was made for.

I dont think that "topic" belongs in the political section. I think belongs right here so it can remind people where their money is being spent.

Buschur guys, you aren't gonna convince him otherwise. Looking at his posts he has made his mind up on the ebay unit and just wants someone to validate his purchase. *shrug*
