Clutch slip at 4500 rpr and up in 4th gear?

Did a track day this past weekend and the clutch felt like it was slipping in 4th gear at ~90mph. It doesn't happen in anyother gear but 4th from about 4500 rpm and up. I just put in a new carbonetic single disc clutch and flywheel. I broke it in with about 300miles before the track day. The slipping only ocurred towards the end of the session (15 mins). It happend in all three sessions about 2-3 times at the end of the straight (full throttle) before the brake markers. What could this be? It pulls hard in the low rpms and lower gears?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Well, it makes sense for the clutch to slip in higher gears, because there is much more load. Have you tested it in 5th gear? It probably slips earlier and for longer. However, if it's a new clutch, it shouldn't be slipping at all. If it's adjusted improperly to where the pedal engagement is at the very top, then it may not be close enough to fully engage.

Thanks Warrtalon. I will bring it back to the shop and have it check out. I did not get into 5th gear on this track. (too short). I did not feel it in gears 1-3 at any rpm and it only happend once or twice in the each session. Very wierd. The clutch engagement did not feel like it was at the top but I will check again.

Thanks

probrably need to adjust the engagement point being that it's a good, new clutch in it.

As i said, you wouldn't feel it in lower gears, because there is less load. If it were much worse, then you'd feel it anytime you boost, but it sounds like it's only occasionally and when the clutch is hot/glazed.

It doesn't matter if you got in 5th on the track. I was talking about testing it on the road to see if there's a problem.

Thanks Warr for the replies. Good stuff. I will test and send the car back to the shop that installed it.
