Well in CA u are ****ed for sure on any mod before the cat

SO basicly if u dont have CARB stickers for intake , IC piping, DP or any other mod u fail and thats that CA is so strict get this on my honda I got pulled over by a CHP for no reason other than being a HONDA guy ane he poped my hood and saw my mods adn said hmmmmmmmmm those legal I showed him paper work adn then he said u can make these your self I dont care im sending u to the state ref. The ref is the they will **** u **** on u and still kick u after your dead. The run all the #'s and then they came back to me and said your intake is for a 98 not a 99 so it has to come off etc.

SO basicly if u live in CA have your fun but when smogg days comes take it to a litte mexican shop in the ghetto or a local place that is cool and pay 20 bucks extra nad have a nice day. BUt if u go the ref take all parts off before the CAT and u will be fine.

OH as far as internals hahahaahh with how strict our sniffer is I bet 1000 bucks u never pass ith cams. SAFC eeeeeeeeeee dont pass same with NOS. EVen if u had cams and u retarded the timeing to pass they would find out they check everythig

So if u live in CA keep that in mind before getting real wild on the internals

just my .02

ca isnt THAT bad. yes i agree that they are tough but if you are smart and think of this ahead of time you will plan your mods accordingly.

FYI...

In VA, there are two separate inspections. There is the SAFETY inspection, performed every year, and the EMISSIONS inspection, performed every two years. You get a windshield sticker when you pass the safety inspection. You are not allowed to renew your license tags unless you pass the emissions inspection. The safety inspecion costs $10 and the emissions inspection costs $30 ($28 + $2 DMV fee). The results of the emissions inspection are sent electronically to the VA DMV.

Recently, VA has also started checking the OBDII system with a scanner as well. I think it just checks for "check engine light" faults, not fuel maps or anything like that. I've had them inspect reflashed-ECU cars with no problems...YMMV...

Cheers,

Steve

I think slipping the guy a $20 is your best bet, they'll usually take a bribe.

Otherwise you run the risk of unmodifying your car and wrecking all that money you spent on mods (removing headers etc...) and dyno tuning your car......honestly what would you rather do pay some goof $20 bucks or strip your car so it'll pass emissions and waste the $200 you spent dyno tuning your car a few months ago?
