Mass/momemtum have a lot to do with the launch. Would you rather be hit with a 90 mph 5 oz. fastball, or a 90 mph 12# brick???? Same applies to rotating mass and flywheels. Once you spin a heavier flywheel up to speed, it will have more energy to launch the car compared to a lighter weight flywheel.
