I'm going to try my hand at building an AMS car but doing it slowly. I want to see how far I can get the stock turbo with a built motor. I'm looking for a VERY fast spooling street car with not much top end (shorterm). I'll throw cams in the mix since the motor will be torn apart.

Has anyone done this setup before? I'm thinking that larger injectors will be required (along with a bigger fuel pump).

We've actually had a custmer with AMS 2.3 with built head. it def spooled quicker but the stock turbo could not keep up with the extra cfm that the motor was producing.

Sounds like a waste especially with your hotside. Get an FPgreen or at least a IX turbo.

 

I am actually in the process of doing the same - but I've never tinkered with engines before, so it's going to take me a considerable amount of time.

I've got a dev-diary kind of thread on the local home forum. I don't have the engine out yet even. Hopefully this weekend.

Edit: Not quite the same. I'm thinking of a WR8 or a slightly upgraded 9.
