putting an 850R on a stock block

ok well im eventually going to build the motor to a 2.3 but ive had this brand new turbo setup sitting here for almost a year now and just want it on the car. so would it be safe to put this turbo at low psi like 10 on the car with bigger injectors and a double pumper on the stock motor what?

You should be able to do more than 10 psi. Do a search of the name of that kit and I'm sure you'll find setups running it on the stock block.

You'll be fine there people out there running 500 whp and over on the stock block including myself I have the same turbo.I would do what bman said get a set of head studs and good tune and you gonna be golden.

I know lots of people that were making 550 whp and over with no ill effects as long as you keep the stock block tq at 400 on any dyno you go too that will keep the stock rods and rod bolts happy just make sure you don't rev it out past 8,000 rpms then you'll really stretch out the rod bolts.Put the kit on and happy boosting you gonna love that turbo just hope you have a good set of cams to really wake this turbo up.

It can be done, but you need to make sure the tuner is competent on tuning higher horsepower stock block Evo's. Wont take much to send a rod out of the block, thats for sure.

Ivey tunes my car so I should be alright. Wat size injectors do you think id need and would the walboro 255 by itself be enough? I also still have a stock clutch at 80k miles so id probly neeed a twin disc exedy too huh?

yes you would need a clutch to run that turbo and make some good power without it slipping.

if you have the $$$ for the exedy twin, great but there are other clutches that can handle the task that are cheaper...

850R is a SICK KIT and has powered many evo's down the low 9's.... is your car a dd or more of a track car...

A buddy of mine I was stationed with down in Tampa had the same turbo on his Evo stock block, only upgrades engine wise was Injectors(880's I believe), cams(comp cams) and intake. He was running 24psi conservative tune, but did have a walboro 255 just to be safe. His tune was magic though....Darin at Titan Motorsports in Orlando is amazing. I think you'll be fine man. GL with the build!
