downpipe / o2 housing headache

today i went to the hobby shop on base to install my turboxs downpipe, dented the downpipe so it would fit without rubbing. got my car up on the lift and went to take off the downpipe springbolts and the dumbest thing happened. when i went to take the driverside springbolt, it snapped right off, but its completely my fault because i was using an impact gun. so now i only have one bolt holding my downpipe on. it seems like its ok to drive until i can get another aftermarket o2 housing. how cautious should i be until i get this fixed?? and how big of a pain is the o2 to install?? thanks in advance...

the o2 can be a pain due to heat soaked boltes that strip at times etc. Did you spray the bolts with pb blaster or wd40 or something befor you used the impact gun? Try not to step on it to mutch as the turboxs downpipe does not have a flex pipe or flex section in it like others so the more you step into it , is the more pressure you put on that one bolt.

Gotta love the hobby shop!

You should be ok to drive around for now. If you can, run some safety wire from the downpipe (the hole with nuttin in it) up to the top of the broken bolt. That should be ok for a *temporary* fix.

The o2 housing isn't too bad of a job. There is a write-up around here someplace.
Disconnect the downpipe, disconnect the exhaust manifold from the engine, undo the v-band clamp holding the hotside to the turbo, pull the whole assy out. (CAREFULL not to damage the blades!!) It will then be a bit easier to seperate the 02 housing from the hotside.

yeah im not gettin on the car hard right now. and that bold just sheared off inside the o2, so its flush. also i never put the turboxs dp on. i figured that since i gotta take it all apart again when i get the new o2 that i would just wait. so i just ensured that the other bolt would hold good for a while...
