anyone know if the bell housing from the tranny's fit the same??

evo 4/5/6 uses a smaller tranny. the evo 7+ use a much bigger tranny that will not fit the evo4-6 model due to it hitting the frame.

AFAIK as long as you are talking about a 5-spd box... they are all interchangeable between IV-IX. FWIW I've run an 8 gearbox and a 4 gearbox on my 6.

IV - VIII engines are very similar. Only difference I can recall is the thermostat housing where the two radiator hoses connect to. Both my friends with Evo 6's run 8 engines with 6 gearboxes. And the thermostat housings are interchangeable... just means you might need different length / bend radiator hoses to reach.
