That's great. I'm mainly trying to get info from people that are still running AEM boxes though.

Well, that's wonderful. So I just bought a CDI that 95% likely is going to fail on me with no chance of having it repaired or replaced is what you're saying? When these WERE working, were they at least more affective than say an HKS DLI?

The best advice I can give you on the AEM CDI is to mount it somewhere in the cockpit and get it out of the engine bay. I ran one in my DSM for a few years and did not have issues with it. I was clearly lucky however.

I have seen 2 AEM CDIs do crazy **** though when they were mounted too close to a header. The car would basically idle fine but once the hood was down and the car was in boost, the car did some crazy stuff with timing. I'm talking major engine meltdowns on two different occassions. It was an expensive mistake.

Well, I planned on wrapping everything to keep the temps down and mounting plenty far away from heat. This is VERY discouraging given the money spent though. Granted it was a good deal, it's still quite a bit of money for a part that seems to fail more times than not.

Running changes due to discoveries are fairly common in this industry. It sounds like you bought the part used and not from Buschur correct? If so, then it really isn't David's fault or responsibility to take care of it. A little research beforehand would have shown you how bad of a track record the AEM boxes have. It is basically plastered on any car forum that I'm part of.

I know that sounds a tad harsh but it is the reality of the used parts market game.

Understood and I in no way blamed buschur or Dave. It was undisclosed to me at the time of purchasing it that it was an AEM box and I was unaware that Buschur even made a COP using the AEM so I automatically assumed it was the MW. After looking at a previous post from the seller, I saw that it was AEM which is what brought the concern and after reading all of this. Obviously for good reason. Hopefully I'll be one of the few that has good luck with it.

Might be better off asking that question in ECU Flash forums .
