Rear Radiator Fan Question
I was driving around 35 mph when I started to hear a squeal like a belt was coming loose or something. As I pull over and come to a stop, the noise ceases and I hear a clank like something abruptly stops. I pop the hood and see that the lower flex portion of the IC piping made its way into the rear radiator fan unit. I could see that the edges of the hose were frayed and there was residue on the fan blades.
My concern is that it may have created too much resistance and caused the fan motor to burn out. I have driven the car hard since then after tightening up the hoses and readjusting their positions slightly, but I have not seen or heard that fan come on as of yet.
My question is at what temperature does that fan kick on and is there a way to test if it is in fact burned out? Could the blades hitting the edge of that hose have caused enough resistance to burn out the fan motor?
Thanks in advance!
