How do you tell if you have aftermarket cams in your engine? Are there any special marking from the cam manufactures? In my Evo 9 the cams have 5D11 cast on the exhaust side and 5C08 on the intake side. Just wondering if they are OEM? Thanks in advance.

Up for answer.

I asked because my co-worker have an Evo 9 MR and his casting # are totally diffferent.

Stock cams are hollow. You'll be able to find a hole somewhere on the cam to tell.

Ok, there are two or three holes on each cam, and yes they are definitely hollow. But both ends are not.

So, none of the aftermarket cams are hollow like OEM?

Is your car modded at all? if not and it had cams in it then you would have cam idle. . . a.k.a lumpy idle.
