best DD clutch you can buy IMHO! I've ran it in both my VIII GSR and IX MR

Ive used the ACT 2600 on my 1g for ever. I just bought one for my Evo, actually came in today! Just need to find a good shop in CT to put it in. I wonder what the going rate is for an install?

I think this choice should be determined by whether you do your own work or not. If you plan on installing the clutch then the HDSS is probably the hot ticket. I say this because its cheaper and will probably last almost as long.

If you have to pay someone else to install then the exedy twin is probably the way to go.

I've driven both and they both feel comparable to stock.

I installed my HD SS myself...along with a flywheel...clutch holds great had it for about 15k miles now....i dont drag alot, seasons over ..but i did i'd say maybe 3 launches total just to get a feel and it grabs nicely.

compared to the stock clutch i had chatter has decreased, it is still there however when letting completely off the gas....but you barely hear it especially if u got the beats thumpin

this clutch is capable of up to 450-500whp. We run this exact same clutch on our time attack car. Very stock like pedal feel and perfect daily driveability. Highly recommended.

Both the HDSS and XTSS kits use a organic street disc much like the OE clutch (except beefier) and offers smooth engagement like the factory unit. Use of a puck style disc is usually associated with chatter and harsh engagement.

Had the clutch for 5k miles so far. It has no chatter, feels like stock DD.

Just the first week you have to get use to the pressure point. Its slightly grabbier off of 1st gear. But once broken in feels like stock.

I'm a big fan of draging. I have launched it about 10 times already still holding up no problem.

Only problem with it is that it sometimes locks me out of gear when racing.

Its one of the storongest organic disc clutches on the market.

How does one get "locked out of a gear"? I'm beginning to like the ACT clutches too!

What causes lockout is a separate discussion, but it usually happens from a clutch that is not adjusted properly. In most cases it is not an issue but since every car is different some need to have the engagement point adjusted (which is why Mitsubishi made a provision for it). The thread belows details how it is done.
