PTE vs GT

I couldn't find an updated thread comparing the two turbos, Garrett and Precision, since Precision came out with their SC version of the ball bearing turbo. I would like people to post their personal opinions, based on their experiences and not on hearsay, of these two types of turbos. If people could post their dyno graphs and time slips, that would be greatly appreciated. You can post your experiences on whichever trim you would like. This if for all those people looking to buy turbos and/or turbo kits in the future to see the differences, if any, in performance and the differences in cost as well.

Which turbos are you trying to compare? Precision uses all garret parts to build there turbos for the most part. Precision cast their own exhaust housings tho.

Oops, my bad Chris, I should have been more specific. I want to compare Precision's SC turbos vs Garrett's BB turbos.

Precision uses all garretts stuff, so all the sc turbo stuff is also Garrett parts. So are you comparing non BB turbos to BB turbos?

All the SC turbos are available in ball bearing as well, like Chris says, the only difference between buying the turbo from precision as appose to Garrett themselves is price and housings. Presicion makes there own turbo housings and endtanks for there coolers. Precision is usually cheaper than if you where to go directly through Garrett.

Yes, I am fully aware that Precision uses Garrett parts for the most part and like Chris and you have both said, Precision designs their own turbine housings, I am aware of that also. I simply wanted some opinions on exactly that, the differences between Precision's style turbo with their turbine housings and Garrett's turbo with their turbine housings, both in Ball bearing form. If what you guys are saying is that there is no difference between the two types of turbos, then forgive me. I have seen comments made by people who prefer a Garrett BB turbo over a Precision SC turbo and I would like to know why people feel that way and why they prefer one turbo over the other even though they may be "seemingly" the same.

They are the same. So if you don't like one, you can't like the other. The use the same basic CHRA's to begin with.

Haha, awesome. I honestly started this thread in response to someone saying they don't like the SC turbos and I wanted to know why. Thanks for your comment

Honestly many people say that precisions housings out perform the Garrett housings. Usually people that prefer a garrett over precision do so just to say they have a full garrett turbo, and being that Garrett is more expensive it holds a better resale value.

IMO, Garrett makes a way better compressor housing than precision when it comes to the anti surge housings. The precision bullett hole style does not work, and you still get compressor surge. The Garrett style works flawlessly but Precision has a better turbine housing.

The ultimate turbo of choice should have a Garrett or FP compressor housing and a precision turbine housing. Thats just my opinion, my own personal turbo has an FP comp housing and PTE exh. housing.

Hope that helps a little.
