Couple of DP/Test Pipe/Sensor Install Questions

Before I get home a jack up the car: This is my first upgrade to install. I haven't had any time under the car besides bleeding the brakes and changing the oil. I am installing a HKS DP with a test pipe as well. Neither have a bung for an O2 Sensor. From the research I did on this site, are there two sensors? Can I leave the one in the O2 housing alone? Where is the other one and where do I need to tap into the system to reinstall it?

I have also heard of some of you talking about mid-pipes and cats on the same system. It was my understanding from my RX7 days that a mid pipe or test pipe replaces the main cat, right?

I realize this is a topic that has been discussed, and I tried some searches, but didn't come up with any clear answers. Let's face it, some of these threads are 10+ pages in length.

our exhaust is broken down like this:

o2 housing - downpipe - test pipe/high flow cat/cat - mid pipe (part of catback) - axleback (catback)

there is an o2 sensor in the o2 housing as well as in the midpipe of the catback...evo ix's have the second o2 sensor in the cat

hope this helps

have a 22mm wrench or an o2 sensor socket handy because they are LOCKED in there...breaker bars are your friend...so is pb blaster

good luck

I dont think buying a ebay downpipe is a good idea. There might be clearance issues. Put in more money to buy something that everyone else knows fits.

thanks - I got home and jacked it up to go ahead and learn for myself. The biggest confusion was what you guys were calling a midpipe. Like I said before, when I was working on RX-7s the midpipe was what was used to replace the cat, and that was it.

Thanks again, Oh, and damn those bolts on the cat are hard to loosen!
