Toluence

Propably this has been talked about but is anybody using Toluene. I have read some great results on other forums. I know you can buy this in Home Depot, Lowe's or other paint stores.

Here is my question: Which one to buy? I just want to be 100% sure before I put it a gallon or two in my tank.

Here is what I found:

http://store.hamiltonmarine.com/browse.cfm/4,5722.htm

http://www.jamestowndistributors.com...4031&YAHOOSHOP

http://www.pleasureboatmarine.com/rec83274.html

Can someone post a pic of what I need? Thanks in advance.

Buy the cheapest one if it's 100 percent virgin solvent that's all that matters.

Toluene is Toluene, it really doesn't matter what the packaging looks like.

Thanks.

How many gallons you use per full tank. I thought of using 2 gallons.

It depends how much you want to raise the Octane of whatever gas you are using.

This is the formula to calculate your final octane rating

( Gallons_of_gas * Octane_of_gas ) + ( Gallons_of_toluene * 114 ) / Total Gallons

You might find some more helpful information in this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hlight=toluene

20% mixture on average
Use the highest available octane at the pump for the best results.

I have used it as a buffer for the track on multiple occassions. Pour it in, THEN add fuel. It takes a while to circulate. Drive it a little before you expect an even mix.

I normally leave my tune alone and slowly push up the boost.
Or leave my boost alone and slowly push up my timing.

Its not a very big buffer.
Don't expect magic.

I have seen a 93+tol @ 30% mix take on a 34psi 60-1 setup with a 12.5/1 A/F and an aggressive timing swell for spool.

But your milege may vary.

I checked on some toluene yesterday at the local Sherwin Williams ... $16+/gal after tax. where could I find it cheaper? I've heard mention of $2.50/gal at it's lowest, but that was with a 55 gal drum purchase. I'm hoping to pay around $5 - $6 per gal.

Plan on buying a 5 gallon can It's high for just a gallon. The Sherwin Williams around here sell it for $40 for a 5 gallon can. Any paint store that sells Lacquer thinner should be able to get it for you. It is a controlled substance.

Also try not to buy large quantities each time you go to the paint store or they start to get suspicious. Toluene is one of the bases for making crystal meth, and I had the cops knocking on my door after me and a friend went to Sherwin Williams and bought a few of their 5 gallon cans lol.
