intake dilemma
sorry if this is like a "newb" question, but i havent had the car long so im still not too familiar with these...SO, ive read on here people have had idling problems with their cars after installing an intake. is this normal? ive also heard you need a tune if you put in an intake or youll lose hp. i had an aem sri and an injen sri in my srt and never experienced idle problems either on on my car. my car still has the stock airbox but after reading some about some of this stuff idk wat to do?
The Evo runs rich from the factory and it would probably hep even out the AF ratio but as with every mod a tune wil dramaticaly increase the performance of the car even without an intake it will pull much harder.
You wont have dramatic idling problems with the car so its nothing to worry about but once you start slapping on the basic bolt-ons plan on getting a tune asap so that you will be happier with the performance.
Good luck modding it.

an intake makes your maf reading erratic and that is why the car will have issues idling...some people have no issues some peoples' cars will stall...an intake will do you no good without a tune therefore it is pointless...else injen

it's not retarded, don't try to compare your srt with evo, there is no comparison. evo use MAF srt use MAP. To get a full potential out of every mod, tune is required, not just intake. and please do a search under "evo engine,turbo..etc" this topic has been discussed so many times dont waste time and space.
No issues here either.I have the HKS RS.The only problem I had was when I had the HKS BOV and now that I have the stock one on the cars much better with rarely any idling issues and I don't have a tune yet.
But again some cars are just b*tchy when you mod them

hmm..yea idk, i bought the car with upp (idk wat kind) and blitz bov. i can tell the stock airbox as been swapped out bc the two bolts holding the ram air part onto the front of the car are both completely gone. i have no idle problems in my car currently, maybe thats bc its mostly been turned back to stock? cept bov..
Just get the Samco induction hose used in conjunction with the stock air box and a Pipercross filter.
Just slapping an intake on the car and then having it tuned still won't solve all of your driveability issues. Those intakes with metal tubes will cause echoes every time you shift from the diverter valve that will be picked up by the MAF and cause its readings to be all jacked up. This is one of the reasons that the factory uses that rubber accordion pipe. It helps cut down on the "noise" that the MAF is exposed to.

Sorry to thread jack but on my car I have the vishnu stage 1+ and the blitz LM induction box... If I change the Blitz to the injen, arc, bushcur, ETC do I need to retune??? Or will I be OK. I just want to change it because I hate the sound it makes when I shift high or just put the stock one back on...
