White smoke after WOT lift off

I think I have abit of a problem, After i go WOT on 4th or 3rd and put the clutch in there is a huge white cload that comes out of the exhaust. It last for about 3-4 seconds then if goes. I know white smoke is either water or Oil.
But im confused, Why does the smoke come out after I let go of the gas peddle and put the clutch in (0 load). could it be that there is a high pressure build up in the head then its released after i let go of the throttle?
during normal driving conditions no spoke is produced.

I would like to know if anyone has had this problem. I would like to know othe ppl's experiances before i open up the engine

IF the smoke is oil being burned through the exhaust, it is because there is a high vacuum condition right after you let off the throttle. The high vacuum will expose leaks at the valve guides, or worn rings. Essentially what is happening is the high manifold vacuum will suck oil through the valve guides or past the piston rings, into the combustion chamber.

You should have a friend stand on the side of the street and lift off as you go past him. If it is oil, he will have no trouble smelling it.

Check axial shaft play on the turbo. It may need a rebuild.

And when you're done figuring out which it is.
You'll know what you need to do.

Good advice as always Ted.

thanks TED for the advise.
I was jsut wandering if I can just take out the stock pistons and replace the piston rings without reboring the block? I'm not ready to take the engine out pf the car and have a long lead time.

thanks

Ted is right on. When I do an eval of a used vehicle, I will rev then let off suddenly to look specifically for the white oil smoke to see if the rings/valves/head are going or gone.

Good pickup and solid advice.

How would i know if its its the headgasket or the piston ring is gone.

I guess the ehad gasket would be an easier replacement than a piston ring.

I had a similiar issue with my car on a brand new gt35r.. i knew it was not the turbo... hell the problem was so bad that I had oil in the compressor housing of the turbo even though I had no hose from the valve cover routed to the intake tube . The problem ended up being a blockage in my catch can set up from the pcv valve. Basically after the high boost run 4 gear 25 psi, and I let of the gas at the end of the track... the pcv should open up removing any crank case pressure... well if this line is clogged or blocked then you could have the potential to blow the white smoke (assuming that your rings and turbo are in working order). I fixed the clogged pcv system and I no longer have white smoke .
I hope this helps you out.

I have encountered the same problem except that my car has ran in two years i just finished it last week finally due to some money shortage. But anyway im hoping the car just needs to be retuned seeing i got a new intake manifold and throttle body fuel pressure regulator and the lines. I have a air fuel raito gauge and it says its running lean and when i give it WOT it just bogs out pretty much like there a vacuum leak. I have a friend coming to run it on the computer see what the car says and i have a wide band coming in just waiting for it.
