Performance ?'s advice/suggestions please

Alright, hello everyone, whats goin on?

Right now I drive a Stage 2 SRT-4 with mild bolt-ons. I am getting deployed in January and hopefully I can get rid of it before then. Anyways, I've wanted an Evo forever, and I plan on getting a IX GSR SE when I get back in '09.

Anyways, I have a few ideas on what I want to do for performance, but I'd love to get some input on my choices.

3" TBE w/ no cat(BR, AMS, or namebrand i.e. HKS/GReddy/etc.)
AEM intake
some sort of EBC
aftermarket intercooler(BR, AMS, or AGP)
reflash(BR or AMS, assuming they are the best)
cams
portwork on intake manifold/throttle body/turbo/exhaust manifold

Pretty vague huh? Basically I'm wondering what companies I should go with. I have pretty much figured out I'm gonna go with BR or AMS, but I have no clue who is better. And for the cams I'm not sure if I should go with the Cosworth or the HKS ones.

My goal for the car is to be a street car over everything else, but I still want it to haul in the 1/4 mile. So the most important things to me are driveability and reliability. I'm assuming that with the cams it will be able to hold its own on the highway, cuz right now my SRT definately has no problem up top and I'd like to retain that with this car.

Also I'm assuming that it would be best to get the reflash after everything else is done. If I seem like a noob, its because I am when it comes to the wonderful world of Evo's. I apologize in advance, and am hoping for some great advice and suggestions. Thanks alot guys!

Yeah, I realized that I should have posted up this in the newbie section, so I went and did that, but I'm pretty sure I can't delete this one. The last thing i wanna do is have 2 threads asking the same questions, I definately don't wanna be that guy.

Looks like a good start. Look into the GSC S1 cams too if you're planning on staying with the stock turbo.

looks good . yeah i'd suggest the GSC S1 for your Evo with the stock turbo. dont know much about EBC's and which brand is better, blah blah blah, BUT i am a fan of MBC's and if you were to go that route, the Hallman Pro RX mbc will do you good ...

frum looking at your mod list, you mite as well buy all available bolt-ons for the Evo.....intake, induction pipe, full i/c piping, dp, etc. etc. ....ALL bolt-ons you can get to get it flowing rite and then a tune..it'll be reliable enough and powerful enough for the street/strip.

that's just my take

if you're looking for vendors and kick *** deals, check out MAPerformance, AMS, Buschur, and Extreme Turbo Systems...just to name a few

but of course, i'd highly suggest you get it first before you even start thinking of modding

The AEM intake I am not so sure of...consider the HKS Racing Suction Intake.

AMS and BR are both strong suppliers. Works is excellent as well.

Cobb also just released some goodies for the evo. They are no joke either.

Lots of choices, but you can't go wrong with any of the above.

You are sure of getting rid of the SRT? That is the last of the good SRT4s, IMO. The Calibur SRT is not a performer like the Neon SRT; so in a way you own a good example of what the SRT4 moniker should be. I always thought the Neon SRT4s were cool...I test drove one when they were first released and couldn't believe how fun they were.

Either way, good luck and be safe in your deployment.

^^^ +1 on the HKS Racing Suction making the power from the setups I've seen... but you may have to replace the sponge filter with a cone one, because supposedly it lets quite a bit of debris past it...

Also, for stock ECU reflashes, I wouldn't necessarily only look at Buschur or AMS - yes, they are two of the biggest and best evo shops, but they also seem to favor AEM EMS tuning, which is understandable for the big turbo cars they excel in - there are other tuners on this forum that flash stock ECU's all day. Look around some.

stay safe during your deployment. here is my fav deployment music video:

Thanks for the advice guys.

Yeah I'm sure I wanna get rid of the SRT, I love it, but I'm tired of traction loss. I mean I could easily spend another 6 grand and be running low 11's, but it'd be worthless in town. I fell in love with AWD when I drove my friend's modded STi. Cruising around town I actually moved when I hit the gas, vs. my car which just spins. AWD FTW!!!
