Boost Creep or not?

Ok guys last night i decided to get on it a little.

In 3rd gear, from 3k to red line~

I'm showing on my boost gauge it hits 20psi~ @ 5800ishrpms and rise's to 23~@redline.

It will do this repeatedly if i lower the boost it rise's about 3-4psi after hitting the set psi.

Would you say this is boost creep or something else im having to deal with.

yeah i would say there is small case of boost creep/spike...if its set for 23 psi it should be @ full boost around 5000-6500ishrpm..and then begin to taper by redline...you would need to create more backpressure in the exhaust...i have heard a handful of solutions though..purchasing a high flow cat, pop-off valves, if you have a midpipe creep can be tuned out, even ported wastegates...so i guess there's a start, just try not to run it hard, and run low boost until you sort the issue out.

AMS makes high flow cat..check'em out..http://www.amsperformance.com

I'm having a similur issue. Boost is set at 21 and in first, second, and third gear it stays there. But in fourth and fith it goes up to about 22.5 to 23.5. Not sure if this is normal or not?

Manual boost shouldn't creep up at all. If everything is working right it should be rock solid to redline. Could be the wategate actuator.

Yea it is boost creep, it will start to happen more as the weather gets colder. It usually only happens on EVOS that have a aftermarket O2 housing. What you will need to do is take of the O2 housing and port out the wastegate dump tube part of it. What is happening is the hole is not big enough to properly dump all the exhaust gas, it happens more in the cold because the air is more dense and you boost more.

This is not true and do not mess with your wastegate actuator. Messing with it will only make you boost slower or open you wastegate too early.

I said boost creep happens more in cold weather, i did not say it could not happen in 90 degree weather. Dont go telling someone to mess with their wastegate when you do not know what you are talking about.

I didn't say you were wrong if he has a stock wastegate actuator off the 9 turbo it's weak and It can cause boost problems.

^If a wastegate is weak then you would boost less not more.
