HKS mivec cams

so i just got installed the
HKS mivec cams and i was excited to fire up the car and hear that thing loping, but to my suprise their is no loping, it more or less sounds like it did before i put the cams in minus alittle blips here and there. anyone here have to same thing happen when they put the mivec cams in? its not really like its a bad thing, but its not what i expected.
also theirs this weird sound from under the hood near the cam gears/below the cam gears. kinda sounds winey, kinda. any clues on that? belt tensioner?

Did you have other cams in place before? What kind of power gains did you get from putting the cams in?

different mods, different tuner, different dyno. I dont think someone has tested them on the same car same day.

As far as the whiney noise if you have a IX it seems to be a common problem, doesn't affect performance but it'll probably wear your belt out prematurely like mine(got new one installed under warranty). Here's the link of others having the same problem.

The HKS mivec cams are nowhere near as lopey as the cosworths byut on a stock turbo equipped evo seem to put out more midrange and similar topend power. More refined delivery.

Bang for the buck they aren't worth the trouble unless you have a bigger than stock turbo. Average gains are 10-15whp. Expensive little buggers.

I think it would be better to upgrade the turbo before upgrading cams.

Can you explain....My car was tuned before I had HKS MIVEC CAMS and the car pulls a hell of a lot harder then what it did before. Unless you have CAMS on your IX and didn't think it was worth it than thats your opinion. Don't make judgment b.c you " have seen dyno charts." Take a ride in a cammed IX and it will change your mind.

I'm glad you are happy with the results. On average I simply haven't seen significant gains via cams. You should take that thing to the track and see what she can do!
