sounds good now all i have to decide is between the exedy hd or the custco twin disk.

They look quit smiler in the make so whoever said they are made by the same company my be right!

Is there anyone that has had both?
is there anything that people like about one or the other?

I havent read too much about anyone that has the Cusco. I know alot of people making a TON of power and throwin it down with the Exedy Twin HD so you shouldnt have any problems with it. Just buy it and call it a day. make sure you follow the break in so you dont glaze the discs

I say cusco becaue its a nice blue. A lot of Exedy guys had problems because their engine disc kept wearing down quicker than the flywheel disc.

Depends on how you drive it really. It's all relative, if you're heavy on your clutch then they'll both die quicker, if you launch a lot it'll die quicker, it you slip it like crazy it'll die quicker. It's all relative. They'll both handle whatever you throw at it, but be reasonable.

Once you get past your hard-- for ACT you will realise that the TOB that ACT sells along with every clutch kit from any manufacturer that retains the stock pull type design including the stock one is all made by Exedy because they have a patent on the design. So there is no ACT, Mitsubishi or Cusco bearing because they are all made by Exedy.

I just wanted to know what tob to buy since there where two on lancer shop. I did not see a exedy tob or i would have just assumed to get that one if i was going to buy the exedy hd.

My comment was directed at timmii's reply to you about the bearing not to you frycztech, sorry if there was any confusion. Good luck with whatever clutch you decide on .

The Cusco clutch is the same as the Exedy SD clutch, The Cusco clutch is made by Exedy.

Yes he is correct they are all the same. Even if you bought one from the dealer its the same as the one that comes with a ACT clucth kit.

Meh! Then I rather just buy it somewhere else than lancershop.com or just get the one that comes with whatever vendors include in the clutch kit. I honeslty have to say do not get an ACT clutch kit, I don't care if exedy or daiken clutch makes them, the fact of the matter is the design is flawed. It's not the right design for a hydraulic clutch, maybe they're better on other cars maybe they're not I don't know but when it comes to the Evo I know their clutches does not work.

I also have a friend that bought a Evo IX in January, he got the same clutch as me 2 months before, he had around 8k miles on it and his transmission started to grind around 5k miles later. He even has the 5 speed and was installed at the same shop by the same guy (very good shop btw in NJ, great work) I even adjusted my clutch and the same problem continued. It just didn't want to fully disengage and I suppose over time with the worn out clutch disc it just worn down my synchro's.

I wasn't even biased when i bought this clutch kit (the ACD XT street disc w/street lite flywheel) I thought it was no big deal and everyone was just exaggerating, guess what I found out? They weren't those threads relating this clutch to be a "transmission killer"; I'm afraid to say are true. I'm sure this is a great clutch, the shop i went to promoted them like they were godly but I forgot one thing. They were a shop and had tools and the ability to change the clutch discs whenever need be. They say it'll handle whatever you throw at it ie, track runs and power. But honestly, they have a specified tranny guy and they themselves know tricks to fiddle around to get the clutch to work. If that all fails, then they just stick in a new clutch and rebuild their old transmission. I am definitely not a shop and do not have the time to fiddle with my clutch system to get it to work, if i had the time why would I have to bring it to a shop?
