mustang dyno vs. dynojet dyno

which dyno is more accurate in regards to how much true horsepower and torque your car is getting?

Prob the mustang because its load bearing, so its as close the real world whle the dyno jet just has you making inertia pulls; its just a number at the end of the day though...

Its hard to rely on the dyno for an accurate HP rating. A dyno is mainly a tool for tuning your car. Just keep on using the same dyno time after time. If the shop keeps their dyno calibrated you will be getting the most accurate reading.

Just make sure that the rpm and tq curves intersect at 5252

a superflow engine dyno

a chassis dynamometer isn't going to be accurate at displaying true hp values because it reflects power after drivetrain loss...
as to which will reflect more accurately your true powerband, a load bearing dyno...and yes, dynojet does make one.

Dynojets give "good" numbers.

I just noticed all of mine do at 5250, why is that?

they do it at 5252, not 5250, because HP is a factor of torque, that is

HP = RPM x T (torque)
-----------------------
5252 (constant)

a dynojet is not a real dyno, its just a big weight. If your car weight doesnt match the inertia weight of the roll then its not accurate. Its just a way to see how changes affect the car.

A mustang dyno uses an eddy current adsorber (this is how engine dynos work) and with the correct vehicle wieght and 50mph hp should be fairly accurate.

Dynojet is industry standard, very repeatable and the numbers seem to relate very closely to engine dyno #s once you figure a realistic loss at the drivetrain.
I have the dynojet, the others are good for tuning also but i really think the dynojet #s are the real #s. Remember F=MA.

Well I have been reading into dynos a ton. When the MD is setup right the # may be more real world compared to a DJ but he MD # can be played with easy. On our 1014whp EVO we made 1009at one DJ and 1014at another DJ. This shows they are constant and you can compare # to other DJ. You can't camp MD # to each other since they are so easy to play with.

What does weight have to do with the HP of a motor? You have a 300hp motor in a 1000lb car or a 20k truck it should still be 300hp. I know when looking at # the only ones I will even think to comp is DJ.

I have been to 2 MD places local and they both said they can give me the # I am looking for . I am like what I don't want that I want to know what my car is doing and if the HP is ware it needs to be. Not make some magic # to make my cust happy.
